I'm looking for a keyboard that i can plug into my computer, output sound from it to my computer for recording and assign samples from my computer to the keys and play scales on ------- what type do i need???, i have lots of the major audio softwares (fruity loops, cool edit, cubase, reason, rebirth).

Your looking for a midi controller. Sure you could take keyboards and plug them into your computer but then you wouldnt have all those cool assignable knobs. I'd recommend the Evolution series or try the mini midi controller Oxygen. Oxygen runs for about $120 list price and the evolutions run anywhere from $119 - $219, dependent on the number of keys and knobs you get. When looking on any online music shops or ebay search 'midi controllers' you should find what your looking for. Good luck.
