Another week closer to the I Love Hard Beats event in February and it can only mean one thing - another interview! This week Endemic catch up with Hardcore Underground legends Fracus and Darwin...

Endemic: Firstly, thanks for finding the time to take part in an interview ahead of your set at I Love Hard Beats! Were extremely excited the Freeformation vibe has had an opportunity to live on in London, are you looking forward to returning to the capital to perform in front of those crowds again?

Fracus: London's wicked, the vibe at the parties in this part of town is always really good. It's a slightly different crowd to everywhere else in the country and you can think outside the box a lot more when you play, and know the dancefloor will be up for it!

Darwin: A 100% yes, London is the one place where Hardcore gets to let its hair down. Its still and will always be the Underground capital of the Country!

Endemic: Its easy to see that you've been extremely busy of late; winning best breakthrough at last years Hardcore Heaven awards, the release of your album Balancing Act, and more recently Hardcore Underground 5. What else has been going on in the world of Fracus & Darwin? Anything exciting in the pipeline?

Fracus: Last year was pretty intense and really busy, we did a hell of a lot when you look back on it I guess, so it's no wonder we were all a bit burned out by the end of the year. We've definitely spent more time in the studio this year, and we've continued playing all over, but basically we've spent the year stablising ourselves and the HU brand. We've put out another compilation which we're really proud of, and we're ready to execute what we have planned in 2012. As 'Fracus & Darwin' we have another artist album due for release early next year, but a lot more besides that too. We're really ready to take things to the next level with pretty much everything we do next year, it's going to be a very active one. We're mixing an official Hardcore Heaven Awards giveaway CD this week which will be available FREE to 2000 lucky people at the HH Awards on December 2nd, it'll look similar to our Ravin' Eye cover mount last year. We're going to try to do one cool freebie alongside all the commercially available things every year.

Darwin: What he said! I'm also looking forward to the return of the Hardcore Underground events in 2012. News on them soon.

Endemic: Were all really looking forward to hear you play Classic Trance in our Remixed room on the 3rd of Feb, are you looking forward to it? What sort of era and sounds should we be expecting from you?

Fracus: I reckon we'll end up playing totally across the board. If we're going to do Classic Trance then we'll do it properly. It'll be everything from Platipus to Satellite City I expect, maybe via Alicedeejay ;)

Darwin: I think we might rewrite the odd trance number to slip into the set just to give it a personal touch!

Endemic: With its incredible audio and visual appeal, were chuffed to bits that the Lightbox in Vauxhall is going to be the home of I Love Hard Beats. After your performance there at Sinistry recently, what do you make of the venue and whats your favourite bit about it?

Fracus: The fact that it's in Vauxhall, so we don't have to learn about how to park somewhere else in London!

Darwin: At Sinistry I was blown away how great both rooms were, great sound and wicked lighting. It kind of has the look of Area and the vibe of Hidden.

Endemic: A particularly favourable pastime of ours is enjoying bread, the different shapes, sizes and textures of it are literally thrilling. We have to know, what is your favourite type of bread and where would be your favourite place to eat it?

Fracus: I don't think Tiger Rolls taste quite the same unless you're sat on the roof of your car. In traffic. Naked.

Darwin: It has to be the Flatbread, me & my Wife have it every other week down at our local as part of our meal!

Endemic: *The distant sound of loaf wrappers being manhandled followed by a groan you should never hear from grown men* Sorry gents! All this talk of bread got us a little bit excited!

Endemic: Your history with the NEC and previous Freeformation sets prove you two have always tipped your hats to the moreunderground sounds. What sort of thing should we be expecting from your main room appearance at the event?

Fracus: I think we've become more fearless the more main rooms we've got to play to be honest, there's no point turning up and not being true to your own tastes. The set will be made up of whatever we're enjoying playing and making at the time, but it definately won't be an hour of the same style of Hardcore start to finish. The last Freeformation was one of the best sets we've played and it was a proper mish-mash of everything we like woven together, we're hoping for a dancefloor of people who go for it like they did!

Darwin: It will be free from form, and Im sure everyone will give it some on the dancefloor!

Endemic: Were over the moon to be able to deliver the night and line-up completely free of charge, but as you could imagine one of the most expensive parts of the night for us has been securing the performance of Morris Piper B2B Invested Lobster with MC Disgruntled Old Fart. After their 200 years on the rave circuit these superstars have accumulated a bottomless plethora of funny stories and anecdotes. Whats the funniest or possibly the weirdest thing thats ever happened to you guys on a night out?

Fracus & Darwin: Well it'll sound really fake, but we genuinely saw a UFO in the middle of f**king nowhere last year. I nearly crashed the car trying to look at it, honestly, it was weirrrrd times. On the plus side it was somewhere in Derbyshire though, so they probably won't bother coming back here arf arf etc. I think everyone thought we'd dropped acid when we got to the club and told people. Just the first few people. Then we stopped. We probably shouldn't talk about anything else really should we haha, I think it's better all round if we just leave that cheeky little anecdote there as the answer ;)

Endemic: Its no secret that Morris Piper is a bit strange, but as part of our contract for his appearance on the night its been arranged that he may ask every act a question for use in his businesses market research campaign. He sent me this fax as soon as he heard you guys were on the lineup

Morris Piper: I am under the impression that you two are involved with Hardcore Underground? I am currently in the process of renovating the basement complex of the Incestazoid Corporation Ltd Towers in Cramabatty. We will be looking to put out tender for 25000 cubic tonnes of hardcore to fill in a large section of the underground area. How much would you be willing to charge for providing the Rubble?

Fracus: Well Hardcore's primarily used in road construction Morris, and it's an unnecessary expense for you here. I think if you fill your basement with sand it should almost definitely be safe to build on. If you really insist on our help though, we probably do actually have 25000 cubic tonnes of HU3 left...

Darwin: If not Im going to use the left over HU3s to build a new shed!

Endemic: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today, see you at the party!

Fracus: You shall! Thanks for talking to us :)

Darwin: See you at the bar!

Great interview, can't wait for Hard Beats! I'm loving the vibe that carried on from Freeformation, I think London is a great place to hold Freeform events and the other rooms with mixed genres normally attract a lot of the hard dance/hard house crowd who are gradually getting into Freeform too, despite it being a massive capital city, the London crowd are some of the nicest people I've raved alongside, I can only hope for more events in the future!
