I see a lot of praise for this guy all over, but personally, I never fell for any of his productions. His tunes never really captured me. He seems highly overrated to me. Can anybody explain to me why this guy is considered so good?
No offence to Douglas if you happen to read this.

Haha, probably!
I have listened to many, many tunes of his but only ones where he collabs with others do I find really good, like Fin with A.B. and Gliese Beat with Peaks & Pinnacle!

I guess it all boils down to personal preference. I can't argue that his actual production is ridiculously good, and his collab with Cube::Hard, 'Codex' is one of the best tracks I've ever heard. He's worth keeping an eye on.

his production might be good, but that doesnt become an arguement for people who doesn't like hardcore/freeform/hard dance to like him.

I can't really explain it, if you don't like his tracks then you don't like them. I personally love the mix of euphoric leads (Techno Club remix, Solas remix) with the dirty sections and somehow he makes it all work in 5/6 minutes. His love of trance shines through and his tracks always sound full of ideas with big sounds and solid mixdowns that sound great out loud.

Talented guy, certainly has his own style and not everyone will like it, you cant please everyone in a scene.
Hes the latest in a line of young producers to emerge from the Hardcore Producer website who isnt afraid to try something different and use influences from other genres in his music.

He's not my favorite producer, when it comes to Freeform Hardcore, but his sets for the Hard Beats Collective Show and the mix he did for the LSE 100 show I have enjoyed very much so far. Plus the fact, that he has joined the chatrooms during his shows/mixes to face criticism and feedback.

Not knocking his quality production-wise! Musically, though, I just never fell for most of his tunes and it feels like I should because of the popularity of the guy. :P
Kudos to him for showing up for the chatroom though.

"Popularity" should be used carefully here - how popular is freeform, really? ;)
As for the music - not everything Douglas makes is my cup of tea; his "massive trancey build -> minimal trancey drop" formula needs to be spot on to keep things interesting and make all the drawn-out tension justified. When it works, though, it's awesome.

He's got some good stuff out there, however most of what I have from him is collabs with others or remixes of his songs. I do love Send Me.

Douglas definately has a unique style unlike pretty much anyone making Freeform at the moment, and as such people will either like it or not. For a while I really enjoyed hearing his tracks but just couldn't mix them into other tracks as the sound was too different. I (think I) can mix them in now, and love dropping some Douglas in a mix, it's Freeform but it's different so changes the vibe of a set nicely.

Not keen on the minimal stuff but that applies to all genres, I think he has definitely got a unique style and his production quality is pretty damn high, Say Something even seems like it has some world music influences...that's a first for me in hardcore I think. I'm actually very intrigued now...will have to catch his set at I Love Hard Beats

I think Say Something is one of the most epic songs ever, it always gives me a euphoric feeling. I love the whole Hard Beats Collective crew...they all have their own unique way of creating a song and I respect them all very much :)
Off topic: Phaaze your For A Better World mix is simply amazing.
