Just wondering what AATW are doing with this compilation series. Does anyone know if they will ever put out another one? Was thinking it might be because a lot of the original djs are tied up with other compilations or retired, so that might be why there has'nt been a release since 2009.
I love most of the Hardcore comps out at the moment like HTID, Hardcore Heaven, Hardcore Underground, Clubland Extreme Hardcore etc. But would really like to see Bonkers keep going. Was a big part of my music when growing up. Was 16 when the first one was released lol.

I'd say with Sharkey around the corner from retirement the Bobnkers series is over, it was really his brainchild. I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing, I don't think AATW would have done the series justice (case in point - the last one).
I think a new compilation needs to come up, something with the Bonkers Ethos of supporting different styles. I'd like to see one disc mixed by someone involved with HardBeats Collective (like anyone couldn't guess I was saying that :P) for the Freeform, one by someone more mainstream (Gammer or the like) and one supporting Breakbeat Hardcore with CLSM. I think this style that Bonkers had worked because it exposed people who listened to mainstream hardcore to different styles. Whilst the mainstream stuff isn't my cup of tea, having a big mainstream artist in the mix builds sales and thus introduces more people to the sub genres.

Personally I think hardcore is taking a nose dive of 99 but that's my personal preference...
What people need to think also is that aatw is a "club" label and will only put out what is in with the "club" crowd... Hardcore isn't that atm so yea bonkers is kinda dead atm as is the HTID albums
Other hard genres are smashing the **** out of it tho and I predict aatw to be doing some sort of hard dance, hard trance, hardstyle, gabba cd in 2012 possibly mixed by kutski

I'd still like to see the Bonkers name kept, but with that variety your talking about.

As much as I'd like that too, I don't see it happening with AATW at the reigns. The way I see it, if Bonkers continues there is 2 possibilities. One is Another label takes the name and brings out variety, or two AATW keeps it and makes it a CXH clone.

I think it's best they drop it. The Bonkers' Happy Hardcore magic is over. A full cd of breakbeat Hardcore would be pointless on a Bonkers cd since the whole series was predominately Happy Hardcore & Trancecore/Freeform; let the Helter Skelter-Ministry of Sound albums take on the Breakbeats. Now, if artists wanted to start making more creative & imaginative HHC, then sure, let Bonkers cater to that, but as it seems, Hardcore Underground is the "new" Bonkers, as it's the only series presenting orignal work.

There already is, it's called Hardcore Underground :)
and I think that this is pretty much it for Bonkers. Since AATW owns the rights to the bonkers series, no one is willing to pay the price that they'll be asking.

Someone should make a parody just to keep the spirit of Bonkers still alive.

How much do you think the rights to it cost?

Bonkers was the last Hardcore CD I brought. These days there are good albums download which puts further risk to Bonkers.

I wonder what AATW thought of Sharkey when he said full all with his own Album? maybe that's why Bonkers was stopped.

I think I've read somewhere that AATW stretches des releases of the compilations they own. That means Bonkers, X-Treme Hardcore etc. come out once a year.

if bonkers does come back (doubtful) they should 1.keep it 3 cd's max 2.release it twice a year 3.have a mainstream uk hardcore dj and a freeform dj for disks 1&2 and the 3rd should be a new face each time to keep it interesting possibly an up an coming dj to give there career a bit of a boost
