... the 185 kick is almost EVERYWHERE! It's ridiculous how many tunes share that kick. I can't listen to tunes using it anymore without thinking: "Oh, the 185 kick. How original". :P

Yeah, that certainly does sound familiar/common.

You call it the 185 kick. Is it just a pre-created kick in production software?

There are hundreds of other good kicks to use. You don't see it in trance that two thirds use the exact same kick. :P
