you definetly should check out the new genre of Power Hardstyle. I think this is the future of Hardstyle.
Better Bass and much more complex than normal hardstyle. ^^

Sounds just like original Hardstyle! Apart from the random bit around 2:30. I find it very odd that people would go back to making Hardstyle how it originaly was and then give it another name. Although given that a lot of the people listening to 'Hardstyle' as it is now have never heard real Hardstyle then i guess it makes sense. It's outrageous though.
Edit: Are you sure it's not just what the youtube user decided to call it? As it all sounds like normal Hardstyle to me (older style).

Well it's clearly Hardstyle but it's listed as Hard Trance on discogs too. Really a pointless argument (that the people on youtube are having) as music isn't produced to fit exactly within a set of parameters so it can be one as much as the other. If you consider what makes a Hardstyle tune a Hardstyle tune though then there is no reason to consider this anything else. I don't think it's even really borderline to be honest, it completely crosses over into Hardstyle.

2 against 1, we win.

It typically is, once you can accept that the given parameters will change in time. Mid naughty hardtrance sounds nothing like the noom period, nor, as I'm sure you know, does hardstyle, or for that matter dutch hardcore.

How about DJ Dean - Ballanation, scot project - O and Second Trip Uberdruck - blue pill Derb/Kan Cold - all of it Tracid?
While I am slightly taking the pis over the whole issue I am being quite serious as to what you consider to be hard trance and hardstyle.
I think it was ATB who at Trance Energy 2000 put We Will Survive and a lot of like songs in his trance set. Can't quite remember but there was something funny about the intro to that set.

I'm more than happy to give the parts before 2:20 and after 5:15 the benefit of the doubt, but everything in between was a bit suspect.
While the thread has gone a bit off track here and there, it's mostly running true. It's not what songs you like but what songs you think has the hardest kick/melody etc.

That's all Hardstyle has been for a couple of years now at least and it is absolutely awful.

I don't think any of those 3 songs are Hardstyle. I'm not trying to disagree with you for the sake of disagreeing with you; but in my mind there is a clear difference. Those 3 tunes are too melody based to be Hardstyle in my opinion. The song i linked is about as Hardstyle as any tune can get really, it's based purely around being hard/dark. That is the difference really. Hard Trance is about the melody and Hardstyle is about being hard. Clearly there is a mass of tunes that fit equally into either though. If you want to look purely at what kicks are used and what bass's are used then we are never going to agree. It's about the overall feel of the song.

What i meant was that it is possible to create music that doesn't fit into a pre-existing genre. The idea that because something is created means that it has to be something (genre wise) is just ridiculous.

Yeh, I do agree. But I just felt that while it was very biased towards kick and bass line and melody was dark it was still definitely HT. Not fussed really. It's still badass.
