Should Hardcore become mainstream and if it did how would u feel?
I personally would not want it to become mainstream cus I enjoy listening to music that nobody I knows listen and it makes me feel special. Also once it becomes mainstream everybody would start producing commercial shit and cheesier vocals than clubland. Even Wikipedia says Uk Hardcore is moderately mainstream. I'd still listen to it but it would be annoying when everybody is talking about popcore.

i doubt it will become mainstream atm coz sum of the tracks r awful the best tunes i've heard r from unsigned producers either lookin to get signed to a label or makin tunes 4 fun (like me) all the "big" producers track r crap apart from 2 or 3 imho

You say 'should' as if there's a choice (or even a chance) that Hardcore can become mainstream. Put simply, it'll never happen whether we want it to or not. The music is too fast, and even with Darren Styles being packaged as Hardcore's first 'pop star' it didn't work.
Interesting that you mention people starting to produce commercial shit with cheesy vocals - it's already been happening for years!

Hardcore has a particular individuality that I enjoy. Wouldnt feel nearly has good hearing a good tune if everyone else enjoyed the same tune. Its a style I hold close to heart because it is very isolated and niche, and its that underground and unknown factor that makes it that little bit better for me.
On the other hand, I can enjoy mainstream music as much as the next guy, and while I can definatly bounce to Example on a dance floor, for instance, his music doesnt make me feel like an individual when chances are 60% of the UK's teenage population has his album on their iPods.

Clubland hardkore has taken the sound to the mainstream in the clubs and pubs etc. and this is good publicity. Anyways, back in 1995 or 96 in Australia, Here's Johnny by Hocus Pocus was a popular track, being No. 1 on one of the radio charts. So that's what got people to like Euro-Techno dance music in the first place. And well HHC was a popular style back then. So it has been mainstream but then went back underground and has evolved in the 2000's. Hardcore will never die!

my m8 jst went on a rant bwt this n he says mainstream is created for the purpose of making money by brainwashin the masses to like what they r told to like n lesser knwn styles like hardcore r musical freedom n the people who like it havnt bin brainwashed...i dnt get it lol (either he's bin smokin 2 much of da herb or im tired n he is makin sense n i dnt care)

I love the way hardcore music isn't mainstream as there is that feel that we are all in a group away from others. If hardcore music was mainstream I think it wud just evolve into another genre.

wait...I thought Hardcore had already went mainstream with the Clubland & HITD, & Hardcore Adrenaline albums, since many of the tracks were just remixes of commercial dance tunes. I'm with the acidfluxx guy, I like Hardcore because it's so unknown and not many people like it (enough to buy a cd of it that is.) So, no, Hardcore should not go mainstream, but the hyper, insane, crazy feel to the music should come back!!!

it all depends on what u call mainstream... do u mean mainstream as in constantly being repeated every hour on the radio? having our very own music radio channel on the telly?

Ya i was writing this at 2 in the morning and should have been doing an essay so I was like **** it they'll get the point. Ya true old school defiantly has some cheesy vocals.

i guess by go mainstream i mean that it gets alot of airtime and the sound were used completely changes to please the sheep masses. Stateside hardcore is pretty much unheard of but is gaining more popularity, guess im worried when it becomes popular here then pretty much everybody will be listening to it

It won't become popular here dude. One thing, Happy Hardcore means candy kids, so the American mainstream isn't going to place themselves in a room of adults dressed like kids blowing whistles and air horns for 9 hours. Second, America predominately likes slower music, with words that have a meaning, and with no glitchy noises.

I think its as "mainstream" as its going to get over here in the UK, it'll never become mainstream in the USA.

Shuffling has shown just how susceptible American teenagers are to foreign styles. Who knows, maybe in 5 years Hardcore will explode over here.
atm I see kids into Trance, Dubstep, Electro, and Hardstyle. Slower yes, but the glitchy noises are definitely there.
