But in all seriousness, I'm gonna cycle back to the cd issue, it would be great if we still had a cd release twice a year to capture all the tracks upcoming, and tracks that have made anthem status, but, like others have said, those days are seeming to come less about now due to the current push to slap every song made on Soundcloud and other sites. I like being able to pick up a cd and hearing a song that's upcoming release, or has recently been released.
I don't think that this in itself would be a bad thing, if it wasn't for the fact that the music is so bad. If it was all great music then what's to complain about? But it's not.

I think the reason we have such watered music is because of the constant push on releases. It's like every weekend, artists are just releasing something just to do it...

Well the reason in my mind is because of one style that became very financially successful, so many people tried to copy it and still try to copy it and thus we are where we are. It happens any time a genre gains commercial success. Originally anyway, there could well be other factors involved now like you mentioned.

I actually had a little rant to Kathryn about this earlier.
These days people expect a DJ to be able to mix in CD sound quality. They expect nothing less than new tracks in every set. They expect each mix to have the timing and beatmatching of a computer. Yet if you use a computer to mix on or if you use CD decks then you get slated. A lot of people expect you to be able to mix like a machine but they won't accept you as a DJ unless you're using vinyl, which is an out dated medium which hardly gets pressed anymore. It's not like you're going to get the latest tracks on record.
The thing that tons of people don't realise is that vinyl sounds shit the majority of times, digital is so much better in terms of sound quality (queue the analog purists, but hey, if analog is so much better then why are we all using digital?). MP3 releases are more frequent compared to vinyl so it's easier to play newer stuff but I concede the point that it does water down the quality of the music and the impact or lack thereof of the "anthem".
Ultimately people need to realise that times and technology have changed and if they don't adapt then they are going to be left behind and will more than likely end up being one of those old folks who sits in a pub, alone, banging on about how much better things where when they where young. Seriously, some people just need to take a step back and listen to themselves and realise how old they sound.
Fire away.

I dont think i've seen anyone slate cd mixing since about 2003 - are you sure it's not your opinion thats in the past stu?..
computer mixing still gets slated, but cd mixing? the vast majority of top DJ's use cds now, and the massive majority of people know this!
I dont think people expect nothing but new tracks too..they'd expect some yes, but I think most want to hear something familiar too!
your rant might have been valid 5 or 6 years ago, but today I think the only bit that still holds true is the computer mixing, and with that i would say its going to be very hard to get away from the stigma of a teenager sitting in front of their compaq computer with their t0rrent3d version of tracktor, hitting "sync" every once and a while whilst checking their facebook account and trolling on forums ;)

For some of us the last time a HHC album release happened here was Happy2bHardcore 4 maybe 5 now Im lucky to see any HHC for sale. If it wasn't for the access the internet has given I would have never heard half of the tracks I have today.
That said I'd like to see new releases again in person instead of waiting for my mailman/woman to bring me another package.

I think that vinyl sounds far better. It only sounds shit on shit equipment since the sound quality is analogous.

Probably, you get them in every generation and there is no reason why it should stop now.

I've never been the type to go through records in record shops. Almost all of the stuff i listened when i was younger was pretty easily accessible, i just didn't have the money to buy them.

i love a good record surf personally. Feel right at home doing it tbh. Only one place has records in Colch as far as I know. Might have to ask Jamie R if he knows any others..
