It won't have gone unnoticed that the lines between other genres and hardcore have been pretty blurred for quite some years now, and MANY tunes aren't much more than sped up commercial/hard dance. BUT, it also makes it quite interesting to mess with tracks to see how they sound at Hardcore tempo. So, what are your ideas/suggestions for tunes that sound good at the 'wrong' speed?

Oh...i never mentioned mine! Messing around with a few at the minute but 'Are you ready' by Steve Hill vs Technikal sounds fab at 180BPM. Will sort clippage later.

At the Hulla stage @ WEMF in 1999 or something Vinylgroover played Katcha - Touched By God (4am with a pecker mix) at about 177-179 bpm and I think it sounds way better than the original, got massive rushes just listening to it. I think the original is supposed to be at 138bpm, I asked about it on here a while ago and brought the track soon after just to pitch it up. unfortunately I'm normally mixing at about 182 bpm when I want to drop it and pitched as far as I can it always seems too slow to beatmatch properly
also playing and trying to mix old astral projection vinyls at 75rpm is a fun experience

About a month ago, I caught myself speed up Vocal Trance, Eurodance and Hands Up to around 160 to 180 bpm (I only do this with the option offered in Windows Media Player). Works very well to most of the tracks tmo.

I generally prefer my freeform at 170, at most. Freeform tracks often have more intricate percussion/basslines than common hardcore, and if played too fast it loses its energy and just sounds like porridge :(

doesn't that prove that Hardcore from 2003-2005 where just speeded up trance? =P
