Times are changing, people are moving on and new blood is arriving. It's like 99' all over again.

Hardcores not sustainable. The way its going everyday with all these labels is driving it into a grave.
There arent enough fans buying music. Only people in the scene are only really DJ's and producers. Each producer pretty much has his/her own label. Moneys spread too thin.
Hardcore will decline to a point wher people will think oh shit! and change. But ffs, this is it. MC Storms SOS message means jack shit now cos merging events, folding labels, artists quiting... how much more will entice some change?
First important thing to change imo...
DIGITAL LABELS.
Shut some of those ****ers down! The scene is saturated with them!! Too many digital labels, too few fans with money to spend.

Barely detectable change of affairs then really, hey? :-p
As for Nu Energy and Kevin - very sad indeed. Good luck to the guy. By all accounts a genuinely good bloke.

Indeed. I posted about it in the "new albums" thread the other day.
Tons of great albums on the way. Hardcore isn't on the decline it's just going through a metamorphosis.

Hardcore needed a proper restart, and to be honest, Freeform needs one too. If we're lucky, another label will reboot Nu Energy, just like Nu Energy rebooted freeform back in 2001

Hardcore followed the mainstream. They didn't embrace technology until it was to late. I would not have been suprised if the big record labels would've started selling digital music earlier, they wouldn't have been so ****ed up as they are today.

its not really a case of if they started selling digital earlier...
fact is music on a whole doesn't sell very well at all right across the board, little genre are bound to suffer first as they are small and at the bottom of the ladder...
freedom can't go any further so this is actually a good thing as hardcore may now actually go in a different direction....

how can you say that?
the mainstream labels have always bitched about technology ****ing them up, but after 5-10 years they completely change since each technological change has helped them earn even more money. It was true about the vinyl. It was true about the tapes. It was very true when it came to the CD. But this outdraged hate for digital files have ****ed them up properly, and taken these small genre's with them, because they didn't try to adapt to the new so they could mold people yet again.
