normally if an MC is that bad the DJ will just unplug them. I've seen a few disgruntled MCs this way.

A good MC will make a good set better, a bad MC will ruin the set no matter how good it is.
I have it as part of my contract that I don't have an MC, because they usually just shout crap all over the mixing with no consideration of the Dj. Many of them keep rapping over tunes with vocals in them. Or think they are the most important person in the room. But they will always be less important than the Dj - this isn't arrogance, this is fact. A rave with a Dj and no MC is still a rave. A rave with an MC and no Dj is just a guy shouting at everyone.
When I have worked with good MCs, its been fantastic. An MC should listen to the music playing and work with it. Even better, they should know the music that is playing - one of the reasons I don't have an MC is that my sets are usually made in my studio and bounce from style to style in such a way that even a good MC struggles.
Also, rewinds and stopping the Dj are almost always entirely pointless and are usually done just so the MC can turn all attention to himself. Very few hardcore tunes deserve a rewind, and I never do them in my sets because I think it messes up the whole flow. If I end up with an MC and he wants to do a rewind, he gets ignored.
Again, none of this applies if its a good MC, but there are so very few good MCs. I am not talking about rhyming skill - there are a few with that. I am talking about when to shut the hell up. Almost none of them can do that, and its essential that they do. Imagine listening to a whole set of hardcore where none of the tunes have a single breakdown, its just a banging kick for an entire hour. It would be shit. Generally speaking, most MC's have a certain rapport with the DJ's, and have for a number of years.
Therefore, I doubt MC's will be told to just... go away.
Although I wish they would. Has never sounded good to me. One of the main reasons I don't attend raves anymore is because of MC's. Just personal preference i guess.
