Never been too into makina, but I've heard ALLOT of it through youtube and whatnot.
Question is, is it stil being produced? Most of the music in the genre seems to be very old sounding and has a very 90's appeal to it. in 2011, is it still a genre being produced?

calling it a spanish take on UK Hardcore is silly :P
Most Makina since late 2003 has taken a more hard dance influenced style (like Freeform, but doesn't sacrify as much). But lately I haven't seen much Makina being release.
Wilky: Thumpa said he didn't like Makina (and the fool says he knows good music :P), but he has released 1 or 2 tracks by TripleX
meran05: where the hell did you buy shed loads of new makina?

Mmmm. It sounds kind of primitive, if you know what I mean, but I like it actually.
But yeah, as far as your question - I am obviously not the (lady) man with the answer.
it sounds primitive since it was released around 98-99 :P

Is M-Project still doing makina? The Japanese hardcore fans like their makina, as do the spanish ones I assume. Most of the time I hear makina it's pitched up to 180bpm at least (normally 200bpm) so a lot faster than those videos.
I love makina, cliffraves did a makina set called power party and it's probably one of my most listened to mixes. Makina will never quite match up to hardcore for me though, it does lack a lot of interesting things like vocals, more interesting basslines and more effects and stuff

DJ 10fld made a mix called 911Chilli. That is what got me into makina

Makina music aka Bouncy Euro Techno, was an invention of the 1990's Electronic scene. It did start out in countries such as Spain, Italy and Germany but now there's Japanese Makina - which basically is the Japanese take on this style of music. Some artists include:
DJ Technetium, RedAlice, M-Project,
Have a listen to CD called Underground Makina Connections. Great stuff from the Japs who are still producing this sound - it's also got Acid/ mainly HardTrance and Techy sounding influences.
I think it should be called 'Japkina' or Jakina' or J-Kina - Let's have a vote shall we? :LOL

PJ MAKINA
DJ TOKS
PONT AERI

XAVI METRALLA
Ultimatebuzz.net < mostly everyone on that site makes makina, there all from the uk though
what exactly does Xavi Metralla produce? I haven't seen that name on a release since Nukleuz released one of his/their tracks back in 2005.
Pont Aeri doesn't produce anymore. Where did you get that notion? IF they do, they don't produce Makina atleast.
Not really fund of GaryMC, Toks or PJ.
ultraskool: J-core? :P No thanks, lets just keep it at Japanese Makina for now. the japanese hate the J-core naming.
