Hi guys,
Has anyone had any problems using IMO lately?
I bought 30 tracks today, 22 of them loaded on to iTunes no problem but the other 8 wouldnt.
Also to add to my annoyance 3 of the 22 tracks werent even the full tracks they were just the 50 second clips.
I am absoluteley raging, i've had this problem with them before, dont even know why i proceeded to buying more tracks, regret it now.
i've purchased a fair amount of tracks over the past few months and nearly every time there has been a problem
now I have learned my lesson I will never use IMO Download ever again.
Regards,
Aaron

is Ady Vilo - Azure one of them?
I had problems with various programs telling me it was a 192kb/s track when the version i bought was a 320kb/s. In the end my portable MP3 (Sony Walkman) didnt play it.
What i've understand, IMO download gets the file as they are, since IMO Download (compared to most other mp3 stores) allow the users who upload to have more control over the files (the full files and the samples).
Until IMO Download themself take full control of the songs uploaded, this will keep on happening. So email them again and tell them to change their system.
On a second note, I actually had a problem with a song bought on TrackItDown. The song was originally from NEC, but was uploaded to TID through a Digital Distributor (a 3rd party company that is), and the song i bought from TID was cut short by 2 minutes

Never had any problems with IMO myself but then I've mainly brought oldskool vinyl rips from them. The most up to date track I got from IMO was released in 2007 so..
And the only problem I've had with TID is that they got the names of a couple of tracks the wrong way around- justin time & DNA - Gone Insane has been switched with Triple J (I think) - Touch My Heart but you do get whatever you hear in the sample even tho the names are switched
sounds savage though!! the 50 second thing would definitely not make me happy

Like Samination says, IMO gets the files directly from the label owners. Therefore if there is a wrong version uploaded it most probably is the labels fault, not IMO's. Also, the fact each label owner is fully responsible for for the content uploaded means there are probably coding issues of the mp3's as not everybody uses the same program to convert their files.

Yeah, if you buy a track and only get a clip then its the labels fault, not IMOdownload.
Ive uploaded alot of music to IMO and its very straight forward. There is a box to upload your clip to, a box for the 320 mp3 and a box for the artwork. Obviously some label owners just do it without looking properly and upload the clip into the 320 mp3 box. IMOdownload have no control over what is uploaded. You upload it and its live, so any problems is because of the labels themselves Im afraid.

Not having any kind of quality control before things going live is an extremely miserable way to do things.

I bought 14 tracks from trackitdown on Saturday night, only 10 of them where on the server due to their recent problems. I e-mailed them and within 24 hours they fixed the links and give me 2 free tracks of my choice for compensation. Can't complain about that type of customer service.
I would never buy off IMO Downloads. Nothing against Spinback or IMO Records but the downloads section has gotten such bad press and is full of shite it makes me turn off all together. When people advertise their new tracks for sale and they're on IMO I just won't listen to it because I hate the site so much.
The old adage "this is what happens when the inmates take over the asylum" springs to mind. Too much shite being submitted and no content control.

agree! while i've never had any problems with TID, or juno, i've run into a few of them from Hardbeatsdownload (a couple of them my fault lol) and a couple at the JAL site. they were quick to respond to my situation and get me settled straight! great customer service!
and for me i have nothing against the music there (but there is a lot of shit on it) but the site is definitely too terrible to even browse through it. search engine almost never works

Thanks for all the reply's guys.
I emailed them telling of my annoyance and I got nothing but abuse.
I was informed that IMO have no control of the uploads which is just pathetic because you would think they would want to audit each track before the final submit of each track.
I have now tried to log on and my account has been terminated.
I will never use IMO again.
What other sites does everyone recommend then?
Kind regards
Aaron

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! That's fcuking outrageous.
You paid for them, but still didn't get God knows how many tracks? THEN they blocked you?
That is quite literally unbelievable.

I've got nothing but praise for trackitdown. It's by far the best and easiest site I've bought downloads off.

People love trackitdown, but it can be more expensive than other site. Junodownload is a good site and can sometimes be a little cheaper and sometimes have offers on where if you buy a certain batch of tracks you get 1 pound off etc.
The best thing about IMOdownload is the amount that it pays to the label/artist per sale. A sale on IMOdownload generates the same amount of money for a label/artist as selling 2 tracks on Trackitdown does. So 10 sales on IMO = 20 sales on TID for a label in terms of cash.

I know i cant believe they have terminated my account either, maybe because the way i came across in the email i sent explaining my frustration but i was in no way abusive or aggressive.
Thanks guys a few people have pointed me in the direction of TID & Juno so I will give them a try.
Thanks
Aaron
