Hi Everyone,
I've always wondered, is "Makina" a separate genre to Happy Hardkore or is it a form of Happy Hardkore , that is, it's a sub-genre of HappyHardcore ?
Or should we rephrase it as whether Makina is more closely aligned with Euro-Dance and Euro-Trance music?
My favourite Hardtrance track is "Atreyu" by HardNation (Special Artist) It reminds me of the movie Neverending Story and the character of that boy Atreyu

Well I wouldnt call it a subgenre to Happy Hardcore.
Spanish artists seems to dub some of the makina mixes they have done as "techno mix"
ultras: I believe they did take the name from there, but I can't say it sounds like any of the songs I remember from Never ending story.
Listening to "Atreyu's Quest", it got me thinking of the ending song for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past :P

I don't really care what anyone decides it is, to me it's Hardcore because it sounds like Hardcore and it's that simple. Why over complicate things. It is what it is.

pretty much anything by Dany BPM is good: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dany+BPM imo he's the best makina producer. check out Hymn (The New Millenium Remix) his best tune imo.

Hello again,
From what I'm hearing, I'm getting a mixed and confused message about this style (Makina). Some people say it's a sub-genre while others are determined it's not. I think most makina is a form of HardTrance that has bouncy beats built into which gives it that characteristic Happy Hardkore feeling to a (rave) track.
For example, Tunes like DJ Paul Elstak's Happy Hardkore style, Rainbow High in the Sky is quite bouncy and Euro-ish yet Pump This Party is more along the UK Happyhardcore Breakbeat lines.
Makina is often very fast and usually has less vocals, exceptions being tunes like "I can FLy by Format"
Terras Makina and Unmeasurable expanse of Ocean are great tunes! Atomic Ray CD
