Just wondering about peoples opinions on this.
Are there too few, too many, or just the right amount of hardcore digital or physical albums released?
has the loss of Crush On Hardcore created a gap in the market that needs filling?

Seems to be plenty at the mo IMO. :) More is always good though as long as the quality is there! I would rather have one good album a year than 10 average-poor ones.

Out of interest, are the following still running/officially disbanded?
Hardcore Nation
Hardcore Heaven
Bonkers
Hardcore Adrenaline
True Hardcore
Hardcore Euphoria
Surely all of these haven't stopped :/

Yeahh I dont think we have done too badly this year.
CYFI Media seem to release digital albums alot and Ravers Addition are still releasing a free series, Slammin Vinyl also releases a digital album. Crush on Hardcore is a loss, and I doubt anyone will ever be able to replace it, I mean this is an album that was mixed by people like Darwin, Haze & Suae, Cube::Hard, Entity...These are all damn good DJs who probably will never mix another free album again.
Physical format is reletively strong too, got CXH, HTID and Bonkers if you like your mainstream hardcore. HU, Hardcore Addiction and the NSR series if you like it more underground.
Also, Shanty released the Hardcore Anthems 2010 CD which cost hardly anything. And ReBuild/Nu Energy have the freeform side covered with their unmixed freeform project.
Not to mention we have an artist album on the way from Fracus & Darwin and 100% Hardcore comes out very soon too.
Hardcore Nation, Hardcore Heaven, Hardcore Euphoria, Hardcore Adrenaline, True Hardcore, all these have been and gone...where did they all go wrong? Probably trying to aim at the same market as the CXH and HTID albums do and not being able to keep up. TV adverts, big name DJs etc. I think 3 or 4 compilations a year with all the big name DJs is a good number. As for the smaller compilations like my own, Hardcore Addiction and so on....I think they probably need more support to give underground artists confidence more than anything. When people get a CXH, HU, Bonkers or HTID album, its talked about on forums, facebook and twitter etc for ages....Unfortunately no other albums, although the content may be good have quite an impact.

Hardcore Nation - Arent these by Nukleuz? Could see a revival, but the Next Generation one was the only good one IMO
Hardcore Heaven - Ran by Resist who went bankrupt
Bonkers - AATW will release another im quite sure
Hardcore Adrenaline - Ran by GUT who went bankrupt
True Hardcore - Ran by GUT who went bankrupt
Hardcore Euphoria - Only ever made one didnt they? Ministry of Sound owned it I think, and from what I remember it lost alot of money

which Hardcore Nation was done by NextGen??? i'd like to know as i want my hands on it! :)
and as for Hardcore Adrenaline, i always thought that Stu Allan's mixes were best, Seduction's was so-so, and the 3rd bootleg cd kept getting worse as the series progressed. i think their downfall was doing too much too soon. 3 albums in a span of 1yr.
and I'm not seeing much hardcore released on Nukleuz. I think the only artist releasing tracks thru the Label is Jakazid. so atm it doesn't look like Nukleuz will be releasing any hardcore album any time soon.
and it still boggles my mind on how poorly Euphoria Hardcore sold. It is one of the greatest hardcore compilations ever made IMO, and most of the djs involved in the project invested a lot of time on the album.

It was Hardcore Nation: Next Generation. Next generation the label was nothing to do with it. ;) Rather good album though - http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/5541425/Hardcore-Nation-Next-Generation/Product.html I always liked the Robbie Long disks on the Hardcore Nation albums!

It's nice to see someone give hardcore euphoria the credit it really is due.. really good album
blew my mind at the time.
I don't have any problem with the albums being released now, it just seems to have got a lot more specific (as a result of non-specific albums flopping). So you wont get the bonkers coming out with 1cd of upfront, 1cd of relatively underground freeform (i'm sorry but anyone who tries to argue the new bonkers cds feature 'relatively underground freeform' is a complete muppet). That isn't necessarily a bad thing though.. Seeing as you can look at bonkers, cxh and htid and instantly disregard them and then look at HU, HA and other albums and know they're your cup of tea.
I'm really missing the hardcore heaven cds though (just for kevin energys cd, although joey riot would mix a naughty cd now) and I would love to see another freeformation.

Tell me about it! I don't think it was the start of a series either, since Ministry Of Sound seem to release a "you name it" Euphoria for many different electronic genres that are popular at a given time. I guess it goes to show how Hardcore was at a nice peak in 2005-6.

As Gaz has said, its nothing to do with the label, the album was called 'Hardcore Nation: Next Generation'. VERY good album IMO, and it was only like 8 pounds
