Having been getting into AC slaters new dubstep / electro stuff it got me thinking about when he was making decent freeform. This also got me thinking about artists like Moby who also moved on from the rave genre and a hardcore artist called the lawyer who became a 1 hit wonder only to disappear again.

Anyone else got any other names?

I love AC Slater, he makes some great techno/house/fidget/whatever..

Well, there's many names out there.. Prodigy, Carl Cox, Pete Tong..

I once asked Carl Cox why he left Hardcore, and he said there's better people at it out there and he's just better at what he's doing now, which is true, he's definitely one of my favourite artists!

This song makes me orgams, for me it's one of the top Techno songs out there at the moment, I actually find it good he moved on to this :)

I don't know if they've left hardcore for good, but Lumin8 & Cheever (Toneshifterz) and Orbit1 & Inverse both make some wicked hardstyle now and that seems to be there focus.

Audien also got on Ferry Corsten's latest compilation, I'm unsure of whether or not he officially 'left' the scene though.

i never cared for most of AC's hardcore stuff. so i definitely it was his best move to leave the genre

also ATB going to trance instead of doing early hardcore a really smart move for him.

ATB was Hardcore? Ha you learn something new every day.

I actually heard of ATB before I heard of Hardcore. And he is more successful doing Trance, I'm sure.

The obvious ones are Vinylgroover & Trixxy. Also E-Logic, he went to Hard House and produces under the name Ilogik.

ATB made mostly Hard Trance, it's kind of an odd cross breed but not pure Hardcore. His producer name was Sequential one. Obviously Tiesto produced a lot of (Dutch) Hardcore too before moving to Trance.

Vinylgroover, Billy 'Daniel' Bunter & Slipmatt could be regarded as 'Old boys' they are still around but not in the Hardcore mainstream. Vinylgroover has been Hard House for ten years now

Trixxy = the redhead

He produces hard dance with vinylgroover

Ham hasnt left but he produces dnb

DNA now produces breaks

UFO hasnt left but produce clubland style euro trance, dnb and more

Phosphor did some techno under the alias "phaxis" but is back at hardcore now

Brak now produces electro and dubstep

I guess many of the engineers (cube hard, Hattrixx, sparky, fade, ham, UFO, Trixxy, phosphor, ac slater, hujib, etc) have diversified into other styles. If you can produce hardcore you can also do other styles. Many never really "left" for an extended period of time though.
