there was a time when it was actually awesome to have that tattoo. i think the end of that time is coming near.
altho it would be an even bigger facepalm if some1 gets the updated version tattooed.

Yeh all i could hear was the first 2 tracks and they were remixes of chart stuff

mmm, as adverts go, they havent spoken over it as much as they could do....
sounded like every single track they used for the advert was a remix of a popular chart track.
i think i've just about grown tired and just generally unsurpised when I hear these adverts for new compilations, clearly they dont want my money - "my" and perhaps your (if you arent buying it) money isnt where the real money is - and so the cd isn't aimed at me, they are aiming their guns squarely at the kids who enjoy chart music (the ones who have endless amounts of their parents cash and get music in the charts) practically every song they deicded to play in the advert was a chart remix.
so yeah, its hardly surprising, its where the main portion of their money is going to come from.
for that - im not hatin' on them - if the album was aimed at me i would be annoyed that it hasnt done it justice (me hating on this album is like me gettinga annoyed that the Sunny D advert didnt do it justice...i dont like sunny D, so i dont care that their advert doesnt want to make me buy it) if that makes sense.
its sad though because...
it seems that being "underground" is a hard thing to be. Money and Underground just dont go together. As well as popularity, at least when popularity is measured against airplay and chart sucess/whether the kids are pouring their cash into it...us grown ups pour our money into bills and boring crap, not enough of us buy cds like this for them to warrent aiming their audiophonic advertising weapons at us.
im not expert (perhaps i am when it comes to droning on!), but it seems to me that if you push a scene to be a commercial sucess, you have to make the compromises to get it released on big labels, who will be aiming at the chart buyers for money, the music takes a commercial smack to the face, the "scene" is flooded by new listeners expecting more of the same chart-remixes/style - then given the musical climate of a mass amount of producers trying to model themselves on the same sucessful "sound"....it pushes the "underground" into a corner and it suffers.
its like rave-mathematics!
I built something out of wood this weekend, i dont expect it to change the world - but i intend to help...and im sure it will never look as good as Audio_Warfares!

its a prestigious album to be on. I think sales and the promotion easily outweigh reputations in their minds. Either way, most people in the scene will like the album..

indeed olly, but the second bit..which goes back to the main part about who is in the scene!
i mean there are different scenes to be considered here - i have a feeling AATW think more on their "clubland" brand cd buyers "scene"
i mean, why think about any other part of the scene other than the "scene" of people who will be most likely to buy the album

Gotta say i just listened to the album & there is quite a lot of non cheesy stuff on it. I think they have gone about promoting it as cheese for sales... But tracks like
Skepta - Rescue Me (Re-Con rmx) is not cheesy hardcore!!
I would say listen to the album!!!!!! Worth it

Lol wut? Have you built a studio/studio furniture? Look forward to hearing your tunes mate. :)
The CD isn't that bad really. They've just used the chart remixes to advertise as said above but there is some good stuff on there too. Rescue Me remix not a great example mind, it's cheese on a stick with those pitch corrected vocals. Not a bad tune mind, I quite like it. Tracks like the Weezles & Ghettoblaster would have been a better example of non-cheese on the album though. ;)
