I never did tell her this, but I don't call it freeform because it's hard. I call it freeform because it doesn't sound like the regular hardcore that the likes of RB, Evolution and Quosh where making. I thought Raw Element's material was closer to NuEnergy's freeform than that.
EDIT: And no, I don't call everything that doesn't sound like regular hardcore for freeform, just a bad selection of words :P
Anything that fits a Sharkey mix should gladly be dubbed freeform :P
True that Wilky. Too bad that they only promote one or two kinds of style of hardcore, and that's the stuff RB and EPP2 is making now.
this is why hardcore is so ****ed up... too many sub genre every slight change and people dont actually know what this that or the other is...
its just hardcore, its not happy, its not freeform, its not uk, its not ductch..... its just ****ing HARDCORE
Personally the only distinction I've made is Happy Hardcore/Freeform/Hardcore. Hardcore being newer harder boom boom boom thump thump stuff, freeform having the trancier breakdowns and so on and Happy Hardcore having the pianos, the vocals and the happy vibes.
most hardcore is riddled with trance and pianos.....

Yeah but they're not as trancey as freeform and not as happy as happy hardcore! Hence why we have the distinctions! I can't stand dutch hardcore, freeform generally doesn't do a whole lot for me and I struggle with hardcore too, that's why I say I like happy hardcore when people ask because I wouldn't want people to get the idea that I like something that I don't!

Not really though... there's a big difference between Triple J - Follow the Sun, Gammer - Wii Go Crazy, Paul Elstak - Hardcore Hooligan and AMS - Alive.
they're all part of hardcore as a whole yes...but doesn't mean we should forget all the names of the different styles - they are important!

yeah, agreed but we need at least style distinction to some extent. lets not forget that "hardcore" was taken long before most electronic music, let alone the hardcore we know now. so we're not in any position to complain really!

There is a different between pigeon holing something and having loose names for things; the latter is just common sense. Clearly Freeform is different from typical Hardcore, and it's made with the intention of being different therefore it needs a name to go by. That's different from someone suggesting that every slight alteration in style needs a name accordingly.

i get the general impression you missed the point....
No. You're all misusing the word KILL. If Hardcore could be revived, shouldn't people be able to revive Elvis Presley too? =P
Technically, the words you should be using is "What handicapped hardcore back in 1999?"
to an extent hardcore did die in 1999. It urged a new style with more technicality in it.
We dont listen to the same genre as we did then, so yeah guess it died....
Tbh, your looking too much into the word "killed". MajorTom only means what crippled it to the brink.
Pisses me off how people like yourself insemination and the doc pick that up... sorta pathetic. You must know what he means... Everyone else does.

Wanna point out here that the songs listed are compared as being different genres or sub-genres, so I'd like to add that the styles are from before and after the 'death' of hardcore. The 'Trancecore' era to an extent finished and the style reincarnated. Bonkers 7 and 8 show this.
