Lol, i was thinking along these lines but couldn't be bothered to mention it. Or look like i was being pedantic.

It's irrelevant to my point re: confusion.

I was never disagreeing with anyone...only pointing out what style of music (not naming genres here) it sounded most like. It reminds me of tech trance (go look it up if you think I'm making the term up ffs), and was probably influenced by it (just a conjecture).

I'm pretty clear with *why* we're using the adjective minimal to describe the sound. Make it the kick half-time and maybe it'll make a bit more sense to use the term. (Yes yes, I realize that relative to the rest of hardcore we can call this "minimal" hardcore.)

Any more jokes you guys want to lob at me? Thanks for welcoming back an old member, feels swell.

I think, like just about every evolution of the genre that has come up, if it makes the genre more diversified, I'm all for it, as long as its not overdone and too much of a focus.

I do like it best though when a track drops into an unexpected minimal bassline but then proceeds to build up into something more melodic from there, as if the buildup is still continuing after the beat has already dropped, which is a ridiculously awesome musical idea imo. By far the best examples of this I've heard are Gammer & Whizzkid - We Are The Vampires and Technikore - Sensory Overload, both incredible choons.

However there are also total choons that work really well simply by contrasting a beautiful euphoric breakdown with a heavy minimal bassline drop without ever progressing to any upbeat melodic part. Gammer & Re-Con - Manjari and Darren Styles - Bassline Road do this really well. And it can still work even if the whole track revolves around the minimal part, like with Bang Your Head Off, a fun and simple track.
