I have been listening to it a lot recently and I wanted to try and produce a hardstyle track just for kicks. The only thing, is that I have no idea where to start. Is there a tutorial somewhere kind of like Kev Willow did with hardcore or am I just going to to have to experiment more? I've been trying and trying but I haven't gotten anything that sounds decent out of it. Thanks in advance for any tips and information.

Try to get some info from www.newhollandhardcore.com That site has good Hardkore/Hardstyle productions from amateurs just like you.
Hardstyle is a genre that is the link between Hardkore (gabber) and Trance.
Get some advice from DJ Isaac.

..... you didnt just say that. *facepalm*
If you wanna muck around a bit, make a square or sawtooth wave at your desired frequency, about .05 seconds in length (give or take) and amplify the crap out of it (allowing clipping) until its so distorted that it could be god save the queen for all you know.

Basically the hardstyle kicks are dervived from 909 kicks. Just eq'd and distorted to a point where not only they have a distinct tone, but a definite punch and movement as well.
Its not something that is quick to learn, but that is how it is done. I've jumped in the studio with Headhunterz and Wildstylez and they quickly showed us the premise for it.

Sadly, there is much more tone then punch these days.
I'm guessing you just landed back home?

best way to learn is to listen and try to recreate it in your own way
