bit of a mouthfull (thats what she said) of a topic title
never really looked into buying hardcore on mp3 (no real intention of doing so yet) everything i buy is on vinyl (and cd compilation) and i was just wondering for those out there in the mp3know (samination knows his mp3s so im hoping he will spot this!)
just how much hardcore pre-2000 has actually been released on mp3
i just did a quick spot-check on essential platinum (NEP) / (PL)
and i wasnt able to find any at a glance...or was this just a bad example?

Funny. was just listening to a particular essential platinum release I have on vinyl (Dougal and Skeedal - Words of Wisdom) this weekend and thought to myself "if they released more stuff like this on digital" but then thought it would probably not be such a good idea as the old format would sound crap next to the newer stuff. There's Seduction's Impact Records on IMOdownload but this is the kind of stuff that even though is classic I tend to not buy on digital due to the quality.

so far I've only seen 1 release from NEP out digitally, and that was when DJ Fade set up his Festerheadz store (I'm possitive it was Fade because 99% of the songs buyable there had something to do with Fade :P).
Other than that, the only labels i've seen selling pre-2000 songs digitally are Next Gen, Quosh, Slammin Vinyl and Kniteforce, And then some various CD combilation.
lets make a quick list.
IMOdownload
* DJ Storm has a few of his tracks up (from various labels).
* Seduction has most of this Impact label.
* DJ Stompy has a few of his early 2000 tracks out (like DJ Storm).
* A few Joining of the Clans tracks (propably vinyl rips).
NuEnergy/HardBeatStore
* Go Mental, Go Mental Dark, Go Mental Platinum
* Future Dance?
* Stompin Choonz
* a few Raving Mad (Fusion too?)
* Just Another Label
Other
* DJ Fade had a few tracks up on the now down Festerheadz site, which contain most of the Silky Cuts tracks, and few of his other productions from various labels (except NG/BB).
* Most Kniteforce can be downloaded for free.

99% of it I'd say. Some of the very early ones can't be bought. Could be ruined DAT copies or license problems.
Too bad Beats24/7 had/made some trouble. They had the best stock of older tracks (mostly pre-1996), tho they only sold CD-r's

anything b4 NG16ish is not released, and i'm assuming the same goes for the blatant beats of those years. I believe Quosh has everything that has ever been released available for digital download, as well as Nu Energy label(s)
it all depends on what labels you're looking at. JAL is a good site for pre 2000s hardcore, old skool rave breaks all of that
i'm actually trying to get all the pre-2000s tracks that i can remember off the top of my head (and whatever else is on the labels of these songs) before i focus my time on the newer stuff.
i will say that there is a distinction in volume, and even in some cases quality, of tracks. I've read in some of these topics that some ppl believe they're vinyl rips, but have been told by some1 from the site that they're not.

Braveheart remix from Joining of the Clans that is/was on IMOdownload was definitly a vinyl rip

well i personally avoid IMO like the plague. i'll have to email the sites and see if there is anything they can do about the quality of the tracks, but doubt they might do anything seeing as how i purchased some of them over 2 months ago lol

THEY can't do much about the quality when it's the labels that sends them in. I dont know how it fully works, but I've heard IMOd used a FTP, so basicly you can send anything to them.

What ever happened to Scott Brown's MP3 store? It's been in development for well over a year and yet nothing's materialised.

http://xyrog.powweb.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6705 I guess I read it somewhat wrong. Amato (dj frantic's shit again) went bust and they where supposedly the ones who where going to get the mp3s out

yeah, that sounds as though he was going to license all his music through Universal - or a company under universal (UMTV) because that would get it on all the major mp3 sites, including any that license Universal content (like http://www.bigchilli.com *cough*) and its WAP sites.. im not on the inside so not going to claim like i know for sure..but i would say thats just the way it sounded..but that was back in 2007..i wonder what happened hardcore underground is licensed through universal by the looks of things (you can buy it on big chilli)...very interesting
