Woke up to this post from Kevin Energy
http://www.nuenergycollective.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=408&Itemid=91&Itemcatid=1 Written by Kevin Energy Thorpe The inevitable time has come where our record company can no longer afford to press vinyl. In the last year we have managed to keep the vinyl labels operating by drumming down production costs as much as possible but the truth is that most of the releases pressed in the last year have not even recouped the cost to manufacture them. We have tried and tried to keep our releases alive on vinyl but can't continue to any more. Times are changing and we need to move with them. Embrace The Future Whilst we will all miss the procedure of manufacturing and playing vinyl, we knew the time was coming and are looking forward to offering new and exciting new ways to get our digital music to you. Last year we started selling our releases on CD single format through our store www.hardbeatsdoownload.com so that those of you that still like a physical product could still get something in the mail. This format is growing all the time. Our digital mix compilation Hardcore Energy offers you 22 full length brand new track singles and a mix by myself for 9.99 and our digital EPs can be bought as a bulk zip at a discounted price to buying all singles. We also have plans to offer some cool bundles of re-mastered classic tunes along with a mix for great value prices. The Score Nu Energy Records is now 100% digital and will be sold on CD single and wav / MP3 download. This now takes over from Nu Energy Digital. Relentless Vinyl is no more and hands the baton over to its sister label Relentless Digital. We have updated our website to reflect this and added a look of our forthcoming schedule. For those of you that didnt catch my previous news piece , we have streamlined our core artist base for 2010 to a select few really talented artists which were all featured on my Hardcore Energy album. This is all reflected on the NEC site and Im really pleased to see these artists really come into their own with their recent productions. The forthcoming Hardcore Underground album is bursting with some massive tracks from the NEC. Our Vinyl Our vinyl and merchandise store www.hardbeatstore.com will continue to stock general releases in a range of styles but we do of course specialize in Hardcore and Hard Dance. There is a limited amount of our NEC back catalogue left and when it is gone its gone! Be sure to get any items you wish to collect soon ;) Separate from the full store, I am selling some older personal vinyl through discogs . I have recently had a mass clear out of doubles and un-required stuff after a recent move. I do have more to add so remember to keep checking back. Support Speaking from the heart, we now value your ongoing support more then ever. The last 12 months have seen us change many things in order to simply keep running. The reality is that if I was not earning extra money as a DJ, the record company would have folded a year ago. The NEC prides itself on being different and offering music that dares to tread new ground alongside the more tried and trusted sounds. Our following is a niche within an already underground scene so if anybody file shares our music thinking we are all driving around in pimped cars and eat truffles on toast for breakfast please think again ;) The NEC relies on your sales to be able to offer you consistent music. In return for your support we try to offer you as much in back as possible: Weekly podcasts, free mixes, fair priced downloads, a community website and cool prizes. In 2010 we have already made big positive changes to the NEC and the artists that we work with. The resulting increase of quality music is there for all to hear. There are some great acts coming through the NEC, acts that in my opinion, all have a great future ahead. To those that have continually supported us thanks. Heres to some great music in 2010. Peace - Kevin. Definitely a sad day to those who purchase vinyl from NEC

When we did vinyl - the house bags were the same for a run of releases, so there's no difference between this and what we do for CD singles. To have an individual cover designed for each release is not economical in comparison to the amount of CDs sold, especially considering, I would estimate, that most people take it out of the sleeve and put it straight in their CD wallet!

I'm sure it's the right move for the label but it's a sad day for those of us that still love vinyl. :( I'm glad NEC are doing the CD's though. I hope things go down this route rather than the download route but I can't see it happening. It's all about MP3's and midi controllers these days..
