was going thru youtube checking out the Brisk & Ham films of when they were in LA and noticed these clips:
anyone else seen them?
for awhile i've noticed some vague negativity on these forums about him as well as with other ppl in chatrooms yet i haven't really seen anything concrete about what is it about him that gets ppl riled up until i found these clips. was interested to hear what y'all have to say about the clips or him in general, since here in the states if we don't directly work with the scene, we don't see or hear about this type of stuff.
please feel free to msg me if you don't want to post something on the thread about the topic. and PLZ no 1 liner comments such as "he's a wanker", etc. i would like some constructive criticism about his music or him as a person.

he's a wanker! =P
well without witnessing the stuff personally I won't judge, but it really wouldn't suprise me to see something like this. I've seen things like this happen before in the party scene so it wouldn't shock me that much to see it happening now...
it's why I hate the politics in the party scene, it's so much more fun when your ignorant to all of it

musically, I've never really liked Joey. He had some good stuff on Quosh, and his gabber (the few of them) are nice, but basicly after he started Lethal Theory, I've never liked him.
I find it funny tho that, DJ Kurt, who doesn't sound much different, to me is a better artist (or rather I liked his stuff more than Joey's), but I think Kurt has had a more freeformy feeling to his tracks than Joey (and Joey's has been on Relentless!!!)

Yeah I've seen these clips and from what I've heard it's just a joke, as he's part of that Core Magazine or something like that.
He did some good songs, but I never really liked his music or maybe I should rather say his style. He seems to be a funny guy tho :)

The videos are a just a joke, there is no seriousness in them at all, at least not intentionally.
I personally enjoy his music. I saw him live about a month ago and he was great.

He is overated and his remix of Brisk's Night & Dayz (a good tune for 2005 with hard kicks) is a let down. No hard kicks and on the whole 'just another tune' His remix of DJ Seduction's Jammin & Slammin would also be better if it had hard kicks. Being from Scotland he should know what hard kicks are if he went through the rez phase

yeah, wtf? this is clearly all sarcastic shit to show how ridiculous people in the hardcore scene are
you guys actually believed it when they interviewed his girlfriend and she said she made all his tracks and that Joey took all the credit?

i didn't actually believe the whole thing was genuine. i kno that the whole wife & pregnant g/f was fake and a few of the other interviews, but i thought maybe some of this had a smidge of truth
was more concerned to find out about a convo i had in a chatroom, where some1 mentioned that he prevented certain djs from succeeding and getting gigs in the UK. never could find out what he was referring to.
and no wilky i'm not being paid by the guy this is to indulge my own curiosity

I liked Joey Riot's earlier vocally/happy tracks. All his track now have the same structure, and it's beginning to get bland. I do like his remix of "Luv Shy", but even it has a stale middle section.
