The stuff you hear on Clubland/ off Raverbaby is hardly the most modern type of Hardcore.
Back in 2005 you could have gotten away with slagging off Old Skool, the Trance rifts & basslines had hit their peak, everyone wanted to be the next Style & Breeze yet take a listen to there new tunes now. Its the same old same old. Upfront Hardcore? Not really.
Sure I listen to Old Skool but the stuff I listen to was new with its own time. The stuff you hear today is back in the last decade. No one made 1995 Hardcore back in 2000 so why should they make 2005 Hardcore in 2010 & call it 'modern' Hardcore>
Here is to the next Clubland, and the fun I will have critising it!

*yawn*
There has been vast improvements/changes to the basic Hardcore/Trance sound and a whole load of new stuff including the Electro, Psy Trance & Hands Up/Bounce influenced stuff. Freeform in particular is very fresh and exciting right now.
Wheather you like the current new sounds or not to say it hasn't progressed in the last 5 years is rubbish.
Change the record smoogs!

Was just thinking the same thing. :P Don't think it is though as I'm pretty sure 95 is a guy called Mike who guys by Squatski on another forum I use. Wouldn't be the first time Smoogs made a troll though, was busted for it a while back. His "friend from college called Dave" if anyone remembers that.
You're a nice enough lad Smoogs but you deffo have a few screws loose. :P

Have you not been listening to the NEC podcasts, FINRG stuff, disk 4 on HU4... Things are really starting to take off again. May not be to your tastes but that's irrelevant surely.

Sure Hardcore has improved, but Smoogie is basically right:

I can't check the links as I'm at work. It's easy to pick two that don't sound very different though.. I could just as easily pick two that sound worlds apart! You have to look at the overall picture.

I actually preferred finrg stuff from a few years ago, and now people are liking it im getting out of it... Also not a huge fan of the direction hardcore is going, much preferred the trancier side. Would have loved the hard scape thing to take off, that sounded cool.
Getting better is still a cracker of a tune six or so years down the track.
not sure what my point is.

Always loved the stuff the FINRG guys have put out personally!

Hmm I'd say most of his stuff has changed too. Few electro bits, Triplets and lots of stuff that's nearer to Hands Up clubby stuff than the old Trance sound. Obviously there is the odd exception.
