last year we had a rave at my fraternity and it was fuggin kickass. i DJ'd it and played mostly hardstyle and electro, with a good amount of rap. we're having another rave in the fall and i wanted to throw some happyhardcore in there this time around. i got the new Bonkers cd and i love the synth melodies but i dont like those obnoxious and girly vocals at all.

can anyone recommend me some awesome hardcore with epic synth melodies but without those annoying vocals.

Why...afraid your buddies will make fun of you? It's nearly impossible to find Happy Hardcore without female vocals as they are the key ingredient. You're best bet will be to run over to either of these sites:

imodownload.com
serioussounds.net
trackitdown.net
junodownload.com

And run searches for lables such as:
NuEnery
Lethal Theory
Quosh
Essential Platinum
RFU Recordings
Warped Science
UK Dance
Maximum Impact
Notorious Vinyl
(you'll see a whole list on serioussounds)

Artist can be:
Sy & Unknown
CLSM
Billy Bunter
Darwin
Dougal & Gammer
DJ Kurt
Joey Riot
DJ Seduction
Al Storm
Marc Smith

You can also go to clsm.net and browse through his collection of tracks, but the majority is female vocals too.

If you are not into vocal tracks, there are labels and artists out there for you that don't concentrate on them.

Check out labels like:

Evolution Plus
Muffin Music
Nu Energy
Relentless Vinyl

But Still check other labels that are more likely to release vocal tracks but still put-out quite a few great vocal-less tracks:

Raver Baby
Next Generation
Blatant Beats
Quosh Records
Essential Platinum
Twista Records
Futureworld

That's my 2 cents, but clearly there's TONS of other labels and unsigned artists out there you should check out. This site's news updates are a good start to keep you informed :)

Ah dude, I forgot about Evolution! Scott Brown has some good vocaless tracks, but only a few are up for mp3 download. I cant remember the site at the moment, but he has a small mp3 store.

Also try
www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk

Brisk & Ham have nearly their full catalog up for mp3 download. You'll find a few Gabber tracks thrown in there too, so check out there, but some of the samples are down. Check out "Dreamskies" by Euphoria! Epic melody, and an epic vocal sample thrown in there. It's female, but its not cheesy!

it has nothing to do with that. i like the cheesy corny sounds of happy hardcore, but it is definitely not something that everyone can jump head1st into listening to it. i'm trying to ease my friends into it too by showing them some harder, less happier sounds, and it's working.

part of the problem that i see in letting ppl listen to "happy"/uk hardcore is that they think it's all cheesy with high pitched vocals, and it isn't, at least not anymore. i show them a whole variety of it, that way none of it is left out. it's just easier to let ppl enjoy it if you avoid the lyrics sometimes

exactly. these people arent used to this stuff at all. and its alot easier for people to get into it if its more straightforward and vocal-less

and yeah man if i was in one of the massive 120 people + fraternities, there would be no way in hell that they would let us have a rave. everybody is too stuck up and obsessed with croakies, vineyard vines, pfgs, costa del mars, and ****ing dave matthews band to even realize that edm is the shit.

are there any specific tracks/mixes that are awesome and stingy with the vocals?

Check out the Maximum Impact tracks on serioussounds.net These last few releases have been pretty vocal-less. You're going to have to go on there and look around. You can sample the track before you buy it.

Yeah, I was surprised that people here kept linking to tracks rather than mixes. A lot of Sharkey's mixes (usually CD2 on Bonkers CDs) don't have vocals and are superb. I recommend Bonkers 15 CD2, mixed by Sharkey & Marc Smith (one or two tracks do have vocals in the middle, but they're not your normal vocals, and they fit the atmosphere perfectly).
