This is how I always start a song;
>Turn on the equipment (well derrr!)
>Then Open Cubase and Fruity loops.
>I always start with the percussion, so I load up a VST drum machine a make a bangin distort kick drum. I usually have the basic kick pattern with an double off-beat at the end of the 4 bar. Create some Hi hats, claps with reverb and a snare. Then slice up an amen break and add filters.
>Then I create the synths. For my past songs I use a Hoover type sound, basic square wave with max vibration some xylophone type plonks and the good old Piano.
>The layout of my songs are usually:
Intro- claps for 16 bars leading into hi hat and build up snare roll
Verse- Sounds similar to the chorus, uses less of the synths and the tune is broken down
Build up to chorus- You can sorta guess what this will sound like
Chorus-
Verse-
2nd Verse-This bit sounds totally different to any part of the song and uses an instrument nowhere else in the song. I use a deep dark squelching bassline.
Bridge-
Chorus-
Outro- Similar to intro but this time the song does the opposite to building up the instruments .

personally i have no set way of makin a tune... sometimes i start with abeat in my head, other times i think up a chord or a 303 line...
sometimes i hear a sound or create a patch when im bored, play an obscure chord... if i like, it, i adjust the patch, change the chord and work from there...
coz my stuff is all sequenced live, i use non linear methods of creating an atmosphere... i use an RM1x and numerous bits and pieces, but the best hting about it, is that i can create teh whole song with the crowds mood in mind.
so if they dont go off at the break, i can easily kill it, and continue the doof for as long as i like. its realy good to adlib too.
This way i create my tune, BUT i create the SONG the way the crowd wanna hear it.. sometimes they love teh big fat deep dark breaks with teh wacked out cuts, other times, they just stand around waiting for the drums to start again... LOL
I dont use much SW, but sometimes i create loops and tings on Orion and port them across to either the sampler or as midi to the Rm.. i liek to bounce things around to see what results i get.
i dunno, i guess i just make noises to the way i like to hear them.
I wouldnt release a song if i wasnt willing to sit the whole way thru it.
I make Goa, Psytrance, acid, deep trance, darkcore, gabba and some ambient. Yeah im a nut LOL

again, its a different way of working, and whatever works and whatever makes u comfortable is the best way to go.

Personally, I usually start with a simple beat or a break (to keep time) I then work on the hook. Once I come up with a really great hook, the rest of the track just seems to fall together.
I then usually work on a nice, aggressive (and usually distorted) beat/break,then basslines, then the body of the song. (The chorus and verses and stuff) I then do the intros and outros.
This is by no means set in stone, though. Just the way it usually works out.
