I don't know how silver will implent it, since I don't know much about the Snitz forum code (2000 version), nor how much silver has altered it since then

I am pretty sure he's cleaned it up quite a bit and made some serious changes. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's completely different with a few exceptions.

Just checked around, I thought Snitz forum 2000 meant the year of the current version. IT's actually the name of the script itself, even till today

The site doesn't run on snitz anymore, I had to re-write the entire site to handle the load and remove the massive amount of security issues that the makers of the software refused to fix. I only keep the credit there is because the site is about 99% running on custom code, I probably could remove it now since we made the entire new profile system.

For the new categories creating subcategories for the sake of it is not a good idea.

But creating them to enhance and influence discussion would be. It would just give more freedom and more concentrated topics.

We need a current events forum. You know, something to post news in and some more "heated" topics.

And yeah I know from time to time fights might break out (especially because of people like scotty) but I'm pretty sure it could be worked out.

I think we do need to cut at least GD into 2-3 pieces. Check the first page 7 stickies, so pretty much always you need to go to page 2 and possibly 3 to see all new topics. Also GD is under Hardcore Discussion, which IMO it shouldnt be. And people have been asking for a gaming section for ages now.

I do think you should take in suggestions, and think properly through what might be needed and what not.

But i do get your point on creating categories for the sake of it. E.g. splitting "music production & gear talk" into music Production nd DJ:ing sections would be logical, but neither are used enough to really need their own section.

there are a stupid amount of "stickys" at the moment, its quite messy :P

most forums just seem to be happy with a "rules" right at the top, and we dont even have that :P

i dont think its reorganising it for the sake of it though, if so many people think it needs an update....i can see how it might be tricky if its all been re-written and would need to be re-written again...would be a bit of a bother..

i also think that "topic digging" shouldn't be considered as such a heinous crime. i'd rather have someone open an old thread than post 15 new ones about the same thing.

I'd have to say I'm still in favor of Trimms' layout.

In the community section, there should be a sticky with all the rules in it. There should also be a subforum under the community section for discussion about the HHC radio... but that could also be part of the feedback & support subforum. Whatever floats your boat.

I also think it would be pretty damn neat to see this site running under vBulletin. It isn't a must though.
