Which software is the best for creating and remixing tunes?

Whichever suits you. Its very much down to personal preference. Nearly all companies have demo versions of there software. Download them and give them a whirl.

MAC: Digital Performer (with a MOTU card), Cubase SX (when it comes out), Logic Audio Plat (hard to use but very good once you learn it)

I know its not the sort u lookin for but I love the e-jays especially hip-hop!!! Try them its easy, fast, kewl with results!!! I luv em!!! Also try fruity Loops 3 final version, that good!!! Also if u wanna mix try atomix!!!

hehe . .yeah .. like Love Monk said .. whatever s/w makes the noise you want and the way you want it is best.
Tho, Cubase/Logic, and a solid wav editor (Cool Edit, WaveLab, ..) are pretty essential for a good foundation in yer workflow in either a MIDI or totally soft synth based setup.
For soft synths, Reason 2.0 (when it comes out) is a very good pack of a couple strong sythns, drum machine, and sequencers, as well as a pretty solid sound and patch libary that comes with it. Rebirth is nice, Reaktor is neat if you can get yer head around it (and if it doesn't eat yer all comptuer resources), as well as alot of Native Instruments' VSTs. Oh yes, ReCycle2.0 is sooo essential if yer chopping up percussive loops.
For final mastering on the pc, both cubase and logic come with some very nicely vst send and insert effects for giving the final sound and dynamics of a track a good tweeking.
