The film to watch at the moment is definetly Hot Fuzz!
Also, something that has had me hooked to the television for weeks is Prison Break. Buy the dvd box set of series one and watch it from the beginning and you'll be gripped a few episodes in, trust me
The same goes for Lost and 24! But Prison Break's the best of the bunch :)

Saw some clips of Prison Break, didnt seem like an intresting show. Lost is good, but id rather watch Emmerdale then 24 :P
Personally i've been watching Battlestar Galactica (by far best serie on TV at the moment). Just finished watched all 4 seasons of Farscape on DVD, which is awesome (and sad, cause they cancelled it after the 4th one). Watched 6.5 seasons of Gilmore Girls just recently (great serie ). Next i'll start watching 4400 :) Oh and Over There is really good too, only saw the first few episodes, then had to go to army so missed the rest of the season, need to get the DVD's soon.

I saw INLAND EMPIRE a few days ago and it's been in my head ever since. It's not easy viewing and it's got the most terrifying moment in a movie I've ever seen, and I guess you have to like David Lynch films because it is ****ing bonkers, but if you want something that's a million miles away from the big-budget 'blockbusters' it's well worth investing 3 hours of your time.
Just don't expect to understand it in any whatsoever!

heh it's new but not a very wide release and according to wikipedia not out in oz til 26th Apr!
BBC review sums it up quite nicely http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2007/03/05/inland_empire_2007_review.shtml ... you could watch some of his other movies in the meantime (mulholland drive, lost highway, eraserhead, blue velvet etc - all brilliant but very much an acquired taste) to get a hint of the weirdness of this film!!!!
Other recentish films worth watching, if you're after recommendations: the black dahlia, kiss kiss bang bang, clerks 2 (if you liked the first), a scanner darkly, the smartest guys in the room (about the enron scandal- again only worth it if you're interested in it)
Loads of good stuff this summer, tmnt, transformers, bourne ultimatum, spiderman 3 ...
