saw that earlier today, don't feel a phone needs to cost $500...but then again the phones at work cost ~$3000 =P

This was always going to happen. Phones that can be used to play music have been around for years so they are a bit late joining the market.
As for the cost, $500 is quite cheap for a phone in this country.

Really? Wow...
It's way overpriced here in the US...
You can get a phone that does most of that stuff with a two year contract for like 300 bucks (the Treo)...
But...it does look pretty nifty.
And to Brian... 3000 bucks... for a phone.... where do you work??
Tis a tad bit late joining the market, but it's more like an iPod/movie player that's also a phone (and it has a mini version of Mac OS X) than a phone that plays music. More like a pocket PC I guess.

only thing I like about the phones at work are you can't receive any calls unless you're logged into the computer =P
I work in a lab that they're are trying to turn into the next mayo clinic
iphone looks like it's going to be exclusive to cingular...it looks spiffy and simple, which is why everyone seems to splurge for ipods. have to go in and play with one once they are released here...

it looks like a nice thing to have but is not practicle
plus i thing apple is getting a little to carried away
as it is now ide rather have a zune then my ipod
but thats just me...

Cissco systems are suing Apple over the TM i-phone as cissco have had it registered since 2002 or something like that.

One concern at the moment seems to how long the battery will last. Current phones with mp3 playback have limited battery life if used to play music. As the main market will be people wanting combine their i-pods and phones into one device battey performance is critical.

they're already expecting the iphone to do poor in asia due to their cell phones are eons ahead of ours and have one of the best wireless networks in the world
