Well i got to admit that i recently have gornw to become realy pi*sed of at all the self proclaimed DJs out ther, it's not so much the fact they say they are a DJ its more on the manor of how they 'mix' or 'produce' like our favorite people like DJ Cammy or DJ Rankin lol im sure this topic has been brought up many a' time in many a' forms but to be honest we must repetedly tell them that even tho they own a pair of turn tables and a mixer and various vinyls it doesn't make them a DJ, and owning various pices of software to ither mix or 'produce' doesn't make them a DJ.

Speeding up hip hop vocals and accapellas then sticking them over a Cascada track or some crummy 250BPM Chipmunk song doesn't give them the right to call them selfs a producer or DJ or even have there name on the tittle of a song.

A tip for the little fellas of the world, to call your self a DJ you need to play at a venue to an audience, you need to prudce music that a population will like not what a 'scene' in a population will like... such as 'chavs' DJ Rankin and DJ Cammy music is mostly listend to by 13 -15yr old 'chavs'.. im not disgriminating them (if i spelt it right, i suck at spelling) but it takes a realy heavy sence of taste to actually want to listen to ill placed pitched and sped up voclas over somthing that to be honest is almost as faster than Drum & Bass nearly breeching on miled speed core lol.

I think i can let it slip that people like DJ sammination and DJ Bluecore can call them selfs DJs becaue they do the next best thing to a live show witch is Radio sets (bluecore) or pre recorded sets such as Samination, that i dont mind :) i just hope to see them showing there faces at events when they are older and still loving the music, keep it up fellas ;)

Well that littel pointless rant and rave didn't realy cover anything new but made me feel quite good lol.. what you think on the 'DJs'

oi you spelt my name wrong (atleast the first time around ^^)

Yea you had this discussion about 2-3 weeks ago on the hhc.com's IRC, and I think I meantioned that I really don't want to call myself "DJ" Samination, because a DJ to me is a person who can mix live.
Usually I do record my 'pre-recorded' mixes live (usually enVias and some other guys get the time to listen to me doing them), but then I already had a tried tracklist so I could mix.
So far I haven't been able to make a spontanious track selecting over 4-5 tracks without failing (sometimes I've actually got an whole tracklist just this way, but it's VERY RARE).
You also forgot to mention that I use software when I mix (if you readers think this is cheating, then you're heavily misstaken, even software needs alot of tweaking so you wont get missed beatmatch... software doesn't make everything right). Bluecore also used software, but later he got him a pair of CD-decks so he can mix abit more properly than me :P

There is also a reason why I (need to) stick around with the 'DJ' tag, because there's actually an american internet artists (arts) that have propably used the name Samination a wee bit longer than me, so the DJ tag can atleast seperate me from her (her name is also Sam, while my name doesn't even start with S) :P

A DJ to me is someone who can entertain a crowd by playing records. I couldn't care if its software based, CDJ, records, gramophone, the edge of a tin-can be dragged around a record. records, CDs and mp3s are all a means to an end, and its the end result which matters.

If you cheat then thats your problem, your not as skilled as the rest, but to Joe Public it doesn't really matter. They listen to music with their ears, not their eyes

I don't call myself DJ Mortis for the simple fact that I'm not a DJ, I've never been paid to play anywhere.

I can mix (insert insult here), and I produce tracks from time to time. I've mixed live internet broadcasts for about two years now but I don't call myself a DJ because I'm not, when someone is stupid enough to book me to play live then I will call myself a DJ...or an ambulance...depends on how bad I am on the decks
