I've got 2 folders where Hardcore Heaven 4 used to be on my external Hard Drive, they are now empty but I cannot access them or delete them , it just says access is denied in an error message, I have tried rebooting in safe mode but nothing works, am I stuck with them until I wipe my drive?

You can get programs that can delete any file on your hard drive, protected or not. Just do some google work.

i remember i used to have an antivirus program (my motherboard one, Nvida i think it was) and it used to block certain files from opening like mp3s, try disabling all ur anti virus stuff and see what happens

try a propper defrag program aswell, could be a corupt file table ect.
if there are any hidden files inside the folder that are running as processes then u wont be able to delete the folder either..
some viruses do this, and they wont show up in the process tree or in the system browser no matter what u do
so try some anti-virus + anti-spyware, if that fails, use disk-keeper 10 (best defrager by far windows built in one is crappy)
failing that, log on as root admin in safe mode, then u can do anything u darn well please.... so could any virus preasent at the time aswell......

external hard drive explains alot!
theyre not exactly as reliable as an internal one. that might be the problem, cause they get carried and tossed around. plugged in and out.
i wouldnt exactly rely on that as your music player.
ive got the files on my comp, and the external is used for backup or transporting crap around.
you could try defragging it, otherwise get a deleting program thingy (like mortis mentioned)

Thanks for the info, ill try the above and let you know what happens!
(I'm doubting the changing to ".doc" solution as it seems I cannot do anything to the file even when in safe mode)

I might be being naive but Im pretty sure I dont have a virus, I just messed around with some files a bit too much and now I cant access those specific files, surely a virus would act randomly on different files?!
Also could you explain what defragging does cause I've heard of it causing problems in the past.
Cheers,
Joel

Before defragging, run a disk check on your disk..... could be bad sectors or something. More likely to be the problem than fragmentation.
Fragmentation basically happens when you move data around alot and delete files etc etc. The data in the files becomes spread across your disk in seperate bits (or fragmented). Defrag basically shoves all the data back together into one clump on your disk. If your disk is fine then defrg shouldn't cause any problems at all

How do you know? Stuff is starting to not open properly now like videos, i need to buy an internal one now to put the data onto which will take a while to arrive, will it die 100% over time if I leave everything as it is? Or by me moving things around?
Also could defragging cause more problems with opening files and folders? - Wanna know this info before I start losing my music, cheers y'all!
