Do you believe in them or do you think that all they say is guess work?

My cousin recently went for a 'reading' and was told that my (dad) her uncle was in the room with them after saying his name 'James' and said he was always with or watching over a little girl, who is my 11year old daughter, who she loved so much as a grandad and he died when she was around 3 year old!
All this has brought up some memories and some painful ones to!
Do you lot think its all true?
Should our loved ones be left to rest peacefully and not brought up in this kind of manner?
Its a bit disturbing to me which didnt help with me going to sleep last night!

I think it's in the Gospel of St. Paul, in the Bible, where he warns against 'Soothsayers', or in modern terminology, Spiritualists.

He doesn't deny that genuine 'Mediums' can 'see' things but the warning is this -

How can we tell if they are genuine or fake, especially when the majority are fake.

Secondly, and probably more importantly, if it was necessary for us to 'see' our departed loved ones,

then we would be able to, naturally and without the need for 'Mediums'.

The final warning he gives is that 'Dabbling' in the occult can quite easily leave you open to....

the less pleasant elements of the spirit world.

So the conclusion is.

Yes, of course it's real and true but....

LEAVE IT ALONE ! it's not there for messing with,

or for light entertainment and cheap thrills.

id definatly agree with ionosphere on this one!!

and with the "genuine or fake" thing....

even if the person u go to is real... how on earth do they know the spirits they "see" are who they make themselves out to be.

as ionosphere said

"the less pleasant elements of the spirit world"

I'm very open to alot of things and wouldnt deny stuff without solid scientific proof!

I am not a religious person, I do usually believe science.

I do believe some spiritualists are genuine. There are stories (well actually truths) in my family... but thats family, so thats not gonna be discussed here but my second cousin and my great grandmother are both mediums

My mate at work has an auntie who reads tarrot cards, and I believe she is genuine, I often think about seeing some kind of medium, but then I wonder if I really need/want to.

Was gonna get my palms read in blackpool, but that was just a stupid idea as there are about 50 of the damn people!

when i was a littlun i believed that i could talk to the dead through a pack of cards, but i was warned away by my grandad because itcan take over your mind, especially as i was at such a naive tender easily impressionable age of about 10!

so yeah.

most of them I believe to be fake, they can very easily lead a person on by being able to read into a person by just common knowledge.

however there are a few out there that do have a gift...mainly the ones that help detectives

Used to go out with a girl who claimed she was a medium.

No way was she a medium, at least a large if you ask me.

djDMS @ you haha.

personally i think alot of ppl who claim they are mediums are out to make money off vulnerable people looking for some kind of closure/comfort. you know, people like that crossing over john edward guy. i dont believe in people like that. but i believe there are ppl out there who are able to channel those sorts of powers, whether or not thats a good thing.... i dont know....
