I have noticed many people do not know how to use some of the basic features found in these boards. So I took it upon myself to just list a few of these along with brief descriptions. Hopefully this has not been posted before and be useful enough to be worth my wasted time here at the office ;)
Please note that a full and complete guide this everything here and ALOT more can be found in the forum FAQ here
anyway...
Everyone should note the small little icons about each person's post and it's features:
- Takes you to that person's homepage which they designated in their profile editor.
- This will only show up if this person's profile has an "artist badge". This will take you to that person's artist profile.
- Sends an email to this person's personal email account also designated in their profile editor.
- Sends a Personal Message (PM) to this person's profile. This service is maintained and controlled within these forums.
- This button will only appear on your own posts. This button allows you to edit your post.
- Takes you to this person's homepage that was designated within their profile editor. If no site was entered, this image will not appear.
- Sends a message to their ICQ account.
- Sends a message to their Yahoo! account.
- Sends a message to their AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) account.
- This is the "reply with quote" button. Each and every post for every thread will have this icon above it. This button lets you "quote" that person's post by automatically adding in their text with the correct coding in your reply text field. All you have to do is type in your words below it, then post.
- This button will only appear on your own posts, this will delete/trash your post from the board.
Posting, in the posting screen, above the text field, you will notice a box of buttons with the heading "Format". I wont go through all the buttons (some are obvious what they do) but I will go over some of the more confusing:
- Will insert a code for the hyperlink linking function. Just enter the URL of the page you want to link inbetween the brackets: [ url ] "here" [ /url ] (Full hyperlinking details can be found here.)
- Same as the hyperlink, except you insert an email address here.
- Will paste the image code into your reply field. All you have to do is paste the image url inbetween the brackets as so: [ img ] "here" [ /img ]. To find the image url, right click the image and select properties. You will find the url after "Address (URL)". This url MUST end with an image extension such as .gif or .jpg. (more detailes below)
- What would internet posting be without smilies? Clicking this will open a separate window where you can select from a variety of images to express just how irritated, happy, sad, or angry you are so you can show that when you say your going to find out where they live so you can desperately choke them with their own mouse wire, you mean business! express away!
Whispering's complete image posting guide:
First, the picture has to be in a website. If you dont have a pic on a website, you can use e.g. Imageshack.us, its free.
Now you have a picture on a website. To add it to the forums, you need the pictures url. Note that the url has to end in .jpg or .gif, otherwise it doesnt work.
To get the pictures url, go to the site where the picture is, right-click the picture. With Explorer choose "Properties" and copy the images url from there, or with Opera choose "Copy image address".
Now you have the link for the image, to make it show directly in the forums, you need to add the image tag's to it. There are various ways to do this.
•You can blacken the image url and press this button so it automatically adds the image tag's in the right places.
•You can press the same button and paste the image url between the image tag's.
•You can also write the image tag's yourself, like that -> [ img ][ /img ] (Without the spaces of course) and paste the image addres between the tag's.
If there is any more additions to this, I will go ahead and edit them in later.

Not sure if silver will sticky this, but at least it will be a good topic to link people to.
I would also add a link to the forum FAQ, and copy paste the hyperlink text from there, as now it doesnt explane how to make this type of links. Also add more complete instructions to the image link part, as people seem to have trouble with that the most, i wrote that once (edit as you want) ->
How to post a picture in the forums?
First, the picture has to be in a website. If you dont have a pic on a website, you can use e.g. Imageshack.us, its free.
