i think it needs cleanign as i cant play any cd's in it they just jump al the time the disc's are perfect condition but not sure how to clean it any ideas ???

Use a CD lense cleaner, you can buy them from loads of places.

try a lense cleaning cd they are usually ok get them anywhere last time i paid about 3 quid in hmv. if its to bad the laser might need realigning this isnt easy if u havent a clue and can be expensive to get done depending on make model etc.
i recommended being sad and regularly cleaning cd players. if u use one in a room where u smoke loads that doesnt help.

dont smoke in ma room lol i have a cd cleaner thing but it dont even know its their sometimes it dosent even recognise their is a disc

whats the common life span for hifi's lol ive had mine an awful long time bout 5-6 years lol everything else works fine just not the cd player

well i find my cd players usually last around that time. i use mine on a daily basis and will use it for at least 2 hours. my old hifi was only got rid of cause the cd bust everything else was fine.
dvd players dont seem to last as long if u use them to play cds i broke one within 6 mths and now my other one is a bit touchy.
but if u have a kick ass hifi might be worth seeing if it can be fixed

not that expert on it. but if u have cleaned it and it still doesnt work probably could be a nasty problem. most common thing would be missaligned laser but i would guess to find out u would have to take it apart not a good idea lol!
