I strongly believe that there is a lot more life out there. Not some green 3 eyed blob with tenticles but unimaginable things. The universe fasinates me, im one of those people who could stare at the stars all night and wonder. Its a big universe out there, and i wanna see more of it before i die, or get too old to not wanna leave my rocking chair and Emmerdale on the telly. 
I saw this documentary saying that some of us will be living on Mars by the year 2050.... they could have said something cooler than that! Mars looks boring, i want to visit planets wayyyyy out there.
Some people believe that when we figure out what the 'universe' is it will instantly vanish and will be replaced with something even more bizzare. And apparently this has already happened lots of times.  oooooooooo spooky! I actually wonder if thats why we were put here, to figure it all out.
And does anyone know what will happen when we break the light barrier? You know like when we break the sound barrier there is a huge boom of sound. For the light barrier will there be a mysterious flash of light or something?

It can't be done in the conventional sense, for an object with mass to reach the speed light would require an infinite amount of energy. The reason light itself can travel that fast is because massless. The speed of light (SOL) is the cosmic speed limit.
The only way around it is to take a shortcut using a wormhole or hyperspace.
The SOL has always fascinated me. Apparently time can appear to stand still at the SOL as well, at least to an outside observer, it's been proven that the faster you travel the slower time passes.
That where things start to get complicated though. If you imagine that you're in a spacecraft that has actually just managed to reach the SOL (in reality it would have to be slightly less), on board the craft everything would seem normal, but to an outside observer you and your craft would appear to be frozen in time. If you were to stay at that speed for about 30 minutes then a 100 years or something could pass on Earth. So you could effectively travel into the future.

Govts withholding information quite possibly..... I wouldnt dicsount all those sightings either. Who are we to say what they saw wasnt real....
This reminds me of a time at work once. I used to work at a supermarket, and served a guy who was really really paranoid, and probably schitzophrenic.... i was making conversation with him, and he kept looking over his shoulder and had a hood and some sunnies on.. and then he asked me if i had been kidnapped by aliens recently. I was like...no... and he was like "oh thats good then" and as he walked off he was all shifty and looked under the register to make sure there was nothing following him. Anyway lol my point is (and there was one i promise).... maybe he probably just schitzophrenic, but then again who the hell am i to say he wasnt kidnapped by aliens!

I dunno, I think alot of ppl wanna believe that aliens have visited us because their lives r so boring they decide to make crop circles, ufo sighting videos etc....There are sooooo many hoax videos out there, some shit but some are really good!
I do believe that there is live out there somewhere, but universe is HUGE and I think we would have seen aliens by now if they would have visited us.

Did any of you's watch a documentory a while back about some planet scientists have named the 'blue moon' or something?
It was west... its like one of them walking with dinosaurs shows... they had computer generated graphics of life on this planet resembling how they believe life could be on this planet due to some theories n shit they had goin down.
Apparently their are giant 'whale' like creatures with wings that float around in the sky. They can float in the sky because of the thick atmosphere and crazy gravity or some bollocks.
Because of the shit loads of carbon dioxide the trees are ****in ginormous, a kilometre high i think it said, and their leaves make a massive cannopy all round the planet, with giant pools of water in them.
Massive floating 'kite' like creatures with tentacles feed off little pig-looking beasts that live in the pools.
The most dominant lifeform on the planet are these things scientist have called 'stalkers' that look like a cross between rubber chickens and ants, but they have 3 eyes. They live in colonies and have workers, soldiers etc and they hunt the floating whale beasts.
Also within the trees there are these pods that live in the branches and dangle tenticles all over the show, if you touch a tentacle you stick to them and are brought to the pod where you're digested alive.
Nice. Interesting shit. And i aint makin any of it up! I saw it on TV

Some interesting replies! There's some good stuff on Wikipedia and other places on the net.
As for UFO's, a lot are faked to just get attention, but there has been some that are 'real'. Also what is at Area 51? What happened at Roswell? And all these other UFO/close encounter stories.
I once read somewhere that radio waves from radios here on earth are currently traveling through space. So the first radio transmissions would be quite far out by now. Would another lifeform be able to pick these waves up?
It would also be interesting to know more about the mysterious dark matter.

I do believe that there is life elsewhere in the universe. Not too sure if anything has visited us... I'd say probably not.
