has anyone thrown in contributions to the EM:DEF? I did some research, and in about 20 states so far, in the US, raves are illegal. But the EM:DEF (for those of you who don't know) is a group, basically helping people keep raves going. People are getting shut down because of the "crack house law". You guys wouldn't believe all the drama that is going down with raves that some people aren't even aware of. Well, I don't know. I guess I sorta just wanna see what the rave communittee is doing. Like what action is being taken and what not. PLUR...

this has been going on for nearly 2 years, if not more. not really new =P
maybe making them illegal will make all the people going to them just for drugs leave, probably not =P

We have the same problem in Sydney in certain areas due to councils attitude towards raves. There are certain councils that will go after you if they catch you holding a party on their turf. So, unless you are one of the big production groups that hold raves at venues that cost an arm and a leg to rent, there is a good chance of the party getting shut down in certain areas.
I don't know about everyone else, but, i think there should be a set of rules and that these rules should be made in consultation with the rave industry. The only reason why the gov't don't give a shit, is that it is only a popular issue when somebody unfortunately dies at a party because that's when its gets media attention. Give it a few weeks , the issue goes away. There is just not enough votes in forming a set of rules and the universal aim of all gov'ts is to get back into power. We have guidelines here in Sydney, so the industry in in some sort of self regulation and they still permit raves to go on in certain areas like the Olympic site which would have one of the most modern surveillance systems! But I think if there was a set of rules, at least you know where you stand at it is better than having it banned alltogether.

there usually is a set of rules for raves etc but the problem is... no one ever follows them. one of the most popular ones in no illegal substances (drugs) which we all know is illegal, yet ppl still take them, and yet ppl get killed coz they took them.
if ppl learned to enjoy themselves at raves without taking any drugs then we'd have no problems.

granted, never thrown a party here, and dont' know too much about it
I'm canadian (manitoba)
anyway... i heard in Alberta they where banned...
and in places in the states as you mentioned.......
as was said, it's hard to just... have a set of rules, because it's not a standard thing lotsa differant people go about things in lots of differant ways..
at the vast majority of the parties i've been to there's been some kind of security... at larger ones it's usually hired security, who give you the pat down etc... lotta people are resentful, but honestly.. i have no problem with them, long as their not too touchy feely ;)
between that, and groove safe, i think the scene here has done fairly well...
what we NEED.. is to find a way to get posative media coverage of raves
get a paper, or a station mentioning the massive party going down wherever, and what a success it was, and talk about the dj's they fly in as headliners etc
give the big ones more posative media... then the lil ones can get by easier... maybe? lol
i dunno!

actually last time i was in arizona they actually had positive media coverage of a party that was going to be going on out there. it was an all d&b event but most of the kids on there came off sounding like intelligent human beings rather than mind-numbed e-tards....

i agree with mouse
people must try to make fun without the drugs and go more for the music.
and if you want drugs keep it only on an smoke and not the harddrugs.
harddrugs is bad for brain an damage brian and memory on long term.

Drugs are okey but i prefer to go on my own adrenilin. When i hear that music I'm on my own drug and i'm sure alot of ppl feel the same. Forget drugs just use the music.
But drinking is fine. Drink as much as you wan't. lol

rite firstly i dont consider skunk/weed as drug. hehe
sometimes i take drugs(pills) to raves and sometimes i dont. sometimes i will get really drunk and sometimes i wont.
but to say that it should be stopped, i just dont agree with. end of the day leave it up to the indivdual init.
rite tho
its all about the music tho
