was thinking of the one below
http://www.onecompare.com/mobile-phones/best.asp?deals=Sony-Ericsson-K608i&skn=moneysavingexpert on video, talk and text 700 (i have very few people that are willing to put up with me to actually ring/text so don't need much). just wondering about loop holes and shit. i know how the free line rental goes with rebates not them actually just not taking cash out of your bank account. if i sound like an idiot it is because i am plus i've never had a mobile phone before let alone a contract phone.

Yeah, the rebates are the only real loopholes with those deals.
For those not in the know, you pay your bill as usual to 3 (mobile provider in the UK). Then on a certain date (or sometimes a certain week) you show your rebater your bill along with proof of payment and they refund you the money. Long time since I looked into it, but it used to be every quarter you did all this, and it was only a small window to get your info in - if you miss the window then tough.
Remember, they will do anything they can to get out of paying the rebate, so just bare that in mind (take photocopies of everything you send, recorded delivery etc etc) and read your terms and conditions carefully and you should be ok.
I have a friend who does this and he's been ok, but you do have to be on your guard!

yep I got stung on this with my last phone but stupidly I have gone for it again with reminders to reclaim the money.
They make a packet out of us fuzzy heads who file the paperwork and forget about it!

it has a service called 'Cashback Reminder' where if you buy a phone via them (they're don't offer the phones, they're similar to kelkoo only a niche in contract phones) you get a code to e-mail them the date your contract starts and how often you need to send your bills off to claim. when it is time they send you an e-mail reminder.

3's coverage is notoriously bad. You can get a new contract with orange, practically any phone you want, 200 anytime landline minutes, 200 anytime any network minutes, 1000 texts and free 8Mb wireless broadband in your house (usually 17-20quid in itself) for only 30 squid a month - i missed out on this deal by like 2 days but my missus got it and shes had 0 problems.
