Basically 11-16 is high school and you get GCSEs
Then 16 - 18 go to college and get A-Levels (or other types of qualifications)
Then some people will use A-Levels (Like Me) to get into certain Uni's (That's where you pay)
Just finished my first year of Uni last week. Got my results yesterday, and passed everything even though I thought I failed, so I'm well happy. Did **** all work like so averaging 65 per cent over six modules is pretty amazing I think

Unless you like in a town like Poole which High Schoos is 12-16 (year 8 to year 11) and some schools have 'Sicth forms' for 16-18/19) which would be for A levels. College is any age after 16 and Uni and age after 18 9education is free until 19) although in 2008/2009, Poole is chaning the High Schools back to the traditional 11-16 system as it is in bournemouth and most of the UK. Some high schools start at year 9 (13) and some schools are split year 7 to year 9 (lower school) and year 10 to sixth form (upper school)
High schools could also be called:
Secondary school
senior school
comminity college
or sometimes just 'school'
