I always said i was born in the wrong era...

That is hilarious. Hard to believe that that would really be the norm of life. I read this other newspaper cutting from that time too called the "good wife's guide".

Along the same lines, but except it was for keeping the home clean, dinner ready for the man's arrival, keeping the kids quiet so the man can relax etc etc.

i admit, i was in stiches reading that, but that was more out of disbelief.

i think this was down to that back then, correct if i'm wrong DMS Men would work and women took care of the home so it was more widely thought that the men had to withstand more of the everyday pressures than women so they had to "do their part" as it were by helping them relax at home which would have been thought to be the "stress free environment".

Don't get me wrong, thats a bit off-key a way of life, but sorry, its still funny.

Sorry girls!

so..

the info u posted was from the 60's.... its not relevent to today... and all of what was said in that quote, is totally ignored.

that nowadays women and men, are pretty much out to satisfy them selves, especially the chav kids, and all these teenage pregnancys, and the MASSIVE increase in divorce...

thats why the quote isnt relevent cos no-one would even think about takin a blind bit of notice, while the quote is very extream, and abit OTT on the stupid side of things.

my point is the quote does have some relevence to TODAY even though it was from the 60's and apears not to.

inset original post here.

AND just because u read my post the first time, doesent mean you shouldnt read it again, if you didnt get what i was trying to say the first time round.

Is that you were trying to convey with your first post?

It has no relevence in todays society because it says basically that women shouldnt worry about personnal enjoyment, etc. They are there to please men and do what men want.

Im sure in most parts of the western world this attitude would be laughed at.

I dont think you can put an increased divorce rate just down to people wanting to satisfy themselves. Which is how your point came across.

Even now, in the 21st century, when people marry and use the traditional marriage vows

they promise to cherish each other.

I repeat, each other.

Isn't this what XtarsiA is talking about -

cherish

English

Verb - to cherish

To treat with tenderness and affection; to nurture with care; to protect and aid.

To hold dear; to embrace with interest; to indulge; to encourage; etc etc

Sadly, I doubt that most understand exactly what they are promising....
