I drink around 3 times a week too, I think when you're an alcoholic you need to have a drink all the time. I.E. When you wake up etc lol. Live your life, have a drink with your friends. I have been drunk sometimes tuesdays sometimes thursdays with work the next day. I've chilled out a bit now got a bollocking off me boss :( but I like me drink on the weekends :D

I disagree... If someone can under no circumstance not have a drink on the weekend I would say that person is addicted to alcohol, they just relate it with the weekend. Addicted to alcohol = alcoholic.
Obviously it's far worse to be drinking all the time, in the morning, at work etc like you say.

3 times a week is less than average when you start Uni. When you have a student loan, a college bar that averages 1.40 a drink which is 20 seconds away from your room, you tend to drink more. I'm averaging twice a week at the minute but thats due to exam period, once thats finished, I'll be a pisshead student bum once more, and I can't wait

i havnt been out drinking in a month or two to be honest... its a bit of fun when u do, but its not the greatest thing ever. I've had a couple of friends who are alcoholics and they wake up and the first thing they have is a glass of wine, as soon as they get out of bed. That scares me, its taken over their lives. One of them especially gets the shakes really badly when she doesnt have her morning glass or two of wine and it really affects her during the day...
thats an alcohilic smoogie, not going to the pub 3 times a week

Yes you're right there, if you can't resist a drink at the weekend that does make you an alcoholic because that means you're addicted I never thought of it like that ^^
I know 1 person who has to have a glass of wine when they wake up, it must be horrid having to wake up and drink beer just to stop whatever makes him shake like whoever posted that about there friend before, he got really bad paranoia (spelling?) too... is that something you can get through drinking too much? Nerves or just because your system needs it (addiction) I don't know. Is that the stage when you would say you are a true alcoholic???

Yeah it definitely is, if you get the shakes etc it means you're physically addicted which is bad news. I've got a couple of mates who are that bad and they are just a shell of their former selves now... That's not an exaggeration either.
They will do anything for a drink including stealing off their friends and family if they don't have the money and as they can never hold a job because of their alcohol problem they never have the money...

uhm you kind of describe how my friend is, do you also get a kind of split personality, one minute you know them then next they are like a different person (shell of their former selves now) <--- is that what that means?
