Because recordings of the live events are not licensed, the tape packs are illegal. Slammin vinyl a few years ago released CD's and got sued by all the labels. The tape packs are generally accepted by the copyright owners because they are so crap quality.

Yes slammin could license the tracks and release a CD but they don't because they can make more money from tapes.

why not just transfer them to a mp3 or burn them yourself if you're worried about it not lasting long.

i know i have thought about it but their big and bulky to store and time consuming to record them all to my pc but wouldnt i get done for copyright if i butrn them to disc or mp3? what you lot think

No. It's perfectly acceptable to burn single copies for your self to be used for back up purposes or so that you have it on a different format. You get done for distributing copies.

at the end of the day the cops are hardly gonna kick your door down cos you've got some tape rips on your pc.

i've got shitloads of old gabber, bouncy techno, jungle etc sets on here, italian classics i could never afford on my decks and that.

if people think it's out of order i'll laugh at them, spend loadsa my cash on vinyl and raves for years so if i want a few free sets i'll have them.

people putting up there own mixes with tunes that are still readily available doesnt get looked down upon, so old sets are no different
