Right its gone 3 in the morning, I'm drunk and also extremely angry. Why I'm posting this i don't know.
Anyway tonight I've been out for the first time this term, with some mates, and I had a laugh. After, I went for a takeaway pizza with a couple of lads, then proceeded to walk home. Whilst walking home, back to halls, a gang of twenty lads (about same age as us, 19-21) are walking behind us, and one dick demands my mate to give him a slice of pizza, and he says no, so the prick robs it off him and runs off. My mate chases him, confronts him, but gets headbvutted by the twat
The rest of the gang pull the guy back, before a fight starts, but the gang of lads carry on walking the same way as us, and some try to apologise for the actions of this twat. However another gimp, who knows we are students starts saying how much of 'dickheads' we all are cos we are students, so I say how are we dickheads? I follow saying I'm a student because I want to get a real job (shouldnt have sad that) Then he tries to confront me, but at this point (thankfully) we separate and dont see the knobs again.
My (drunken) point is, after all that, is if that if anyone reads this that was in Durham tonight that was involved, and not trying to calm things (Highly doubtful), then you dont deserve to live in my opinion. To the guy that says students are dickheads, remember that the next time you are in hospital, dying of cancer hopefully (sorry if I offend anyone with this but it reflects my true disgust at these ****s), it will be an ex-student treating you.

Typical! These people are ****s. Like I mentianed in my other post about beach partys. The police need to bang these people up behind bars like the ****s they are. They are under class twats, and you must be 'posh' coz you are goung to get a better life then them. Some may have said they were sorry about it so they can't all be bad but it shows what dickheads try to rule Britian. Soon there will be riots and people would pay good money to see such dicks get their heads kicked in and I would laugh to see them have a taste of their own medicine. Why can't these people gets the balls kicked so hard they won't be able to make anyone pregnent so they won't breed.
These people are ****S and should die!!!! End of

and I just ran home from the train station like a fuhkin bullet but i got busted. dog woke up, started barking, and my parents woke up. will have a nice chat with em in the morning, on top of probably i think i've caught a cold. abst freezin out and i had a tank-top on. lalalala

not what you need on a night out at all.
Can see why your mate tried to chase the guy cos obv he's not happy about having his pizza stolen, but confronting a group of 20 pissed up lads is pretty mad. Other times a headbutt coulda turned a lot worse.
I've been to durham before and have to say it does seem to have a strange mix of people. Some of the poshest students in the uk study there and the towns surrounded by massive estates from when there was mines and that there.
Really nice place but doesnt surprise me students get a bit of hassle, get pricks everywhere especially when your all on drink jus gotta learn to deal with them.

Well my mate didn't realise their was 20 people behind him at the time. As you said the mix of people is really strange, as it is literally the upper/middle-upper class versus the working class
Usually trouble doesn't occur as hardly any students go out into town on Fridays or Saturdays to avoid the locals, but last night we went to an event held at the Union building, which is not far from the town.
Whay annoys me the most however is the fact that they think I'm completely different to them because I go the university (so I'm posher than them), but most of my mates back home don't go university and we are just like the locals here.

Smoogie, just because you go to uni does not mean you're gonna have a better life. Degrees mean jack shit these days, experience is far more important. I can't get a job after getting my degree as everywhere wants experience so basically the last 4 years of my life have been a waste of time, energy and money. Wish I had the gift of foresight and had taken an apprenticeship when I left school then I wouldn't be contemplating getting an admin job I could have got 4 years ago.
Anyway, Bidd, that really does suck. Hope your mates okay?
Unfortunately, everywhere you go you're gonna get dicks that have a drink and suddenly think they're invincible. Ive been in that situation too many times to count due to where I was brought up and where I am now and every time it really gets you but while there are late night bars and clubs and there are not police officers patrolling every street this kind of crap is gonna happen to you and those you care about. Its a sorry state of affairs.
Only advice I can give is to take a joe baxi home next time.

There's always tension between locals and students. I went to Sheffield uni and there's certain bars and clubs that as a student you just don't go to, probably the same in every university town. Things like this do happen though, it sucks, sorry to hear about your ruined evening.

Off Topic but: I hear what your saying BC, but with so many people having degrees these days, they're becoming the equivalent of GCSEs..... if you haven't got one and your competing for rubbishy admin jobs against people who have got one (as you did when you applied for your job) then your the less qualified person for the job.
I went through my degree working in industry every Summer that got me my experience on my CV. You will also find that most large companies have graduate programs that you enrol on when you join them - at least they do in Engineering.
Admittedly some degrees are useless as they have no real purpose unless you want to become an academic. History for example - unless anybody can think of a job that requires extensive knowlege of the life and reign of King Charles II?

i'm pissed off too after what i found out last night.
my father came down to the club where i work as he's been doing since he got banned from another club. after about 3 hours one of the glass collectors told me that my father ask him if i was a worker or a slacker, being honest he is he says im a worker (which is true, i work my ass off) and my father says and i quote 'no he's not, he's a slacker'
right now i'm extremly pissed off

True, ewhy should people be posh beacsue they go to Uni? Most Uni students these days are from working class back grounds and have to work damm hard to get in. It's not just about the money to get it, it's hard work too and some people should just except that students are around in their town.

I don't go to Uni, I go to a local genrel furth education college and study a BTEC 1st diploma. It's hard work too, and I am going to have work hard to keep get anwere let alone a better life. It's just some chavs quit school at 14 and relised that everyone else they went to school with is able to afford cars and a ncie place by the time they are 20 and the chavs are still in their dirty trackies leading the same worthless lives.

My initial post looks like I'm looking for sympathy from people from what has happened, but I assure you I'm not. I know this type of stuff happens all the time, and I fully realise my incident is nothing compared to what other people have to put up with all the time. I was just drunk and thought I would vent my anger through this website
I do agree though that society has turned into a joke in some areas of this country. To be honest kids have too many rights in this country, corporal punishment should be reintroduced into schools and I seriously mean that, or at least National Service.

I agree. Let the police sort out a pub fight and nobody will dare glass someone again. Given the chance the police will happily use force and although it isn't right it will at least show some athority.

I generally think that people getting caught by police and doing any length of time in jail does nothing. They just come out thinking "I've been in jail already, I'm not assed if I go back". Obviously, this doesn't apply to everyone, just the thugs who think they are above the law.
Although very harsh, I've found that punishment beatings work really well as most people after are very cautious about doing the likes again...Not the best solution I agree...but it works...well!
