ok... been in the making for the past year but never really sat down and finished it... had to much on the go like my movies/animations and music...
but heres a small look at my intestly unfinished site

now heres what i was wondering... as you'll see theres the music player on the side... this was made last year and wasn't finished as you can tell... plus i never really done anything legal back then lol
but like... I'm planing to change it soon as for "Sk8SiM music" where instead of the change song being that shitty little menu... a new box will apear as like the chatroom box... in this you can browse trow tons of music, research stuff, aswell as find links to buy the tracks on vinyal & compelactions...
The "add song" feature will be removed ofcource as for legal reasons....
anyways... do you think hardcore labels would mind this as its doing a hek of alot to bring in more crowds to the scene and there music, as the site isn't just based around the hardcore culture but many others...
when i finnally do relase the site witch will be in the very late future and when i plan to invest in a new server instead of "freewebs." I'm planing only to have my tracks up on there first... and then ask permission of the artisted and the labels before posting only small samples of the music instead of full tracks...
But i just wanted to get some 2nd opins before i go ahead and spend months of work on a new project...

to be honest. music on websites really annoys me! and i switch it off anyway.
also, sites a bit too busy and colourful.
and
OMG are you serious with the whole "S&M" i know its your innitials, but maybe rethink that too

Agree that it is too busy. I like the way it loads up though this is good IMO. I think it looks pretty good but I hate that "paint" logo, looks like your capable of doing a professional version of it so why not ey ;).

needs tidying up, make it scaleable, use less flash, pls dont have the music autoplay. lol
but ideas are good, though.. lots of work to do!

First thoughts.
Clicked the link, left the window in the back and read the rest of this thread. Went over to your site window and was greeted by a bank of wondows saying "loading". Might be an idea, as suggested, to lay off *some* of the flash and put some fast loading static content for people to be reading while the flash bits are loading as people get bored FAST on the net. The bottom left big box for instance could be done easily in xhtml/css without losing any impact and probably gaining a few points on the searchengineometer!
Music player: loads of people (myself included) play music whilst surfing - sites that play music automatically clash with what I'm listening to and annoy me. Change the music to play by option instead!
On the music front - do it at your own risk without permission. Your streaming at low bitrate so it shouldn't be much of an issue with the labels, but lawyers for big labels don't care, and neither do royalty agencies such as PRS/MCPSand especially the RIAA. I personally don't know of any people who've been fined for similar things (not sure if any have anywhere) but I know people who have received "Cease and Decist" notices which just means stop doing it or you go to court. Shouldn't be a massive problem if your not making money from the site in any way. I however am not a lawyer, and nor do I play one on television :-)
General site comments - too much animation - the site looks VERY busy. Don't get me wrong, the animations look great on their own! Just together it gets very distracting for me as a viewer trying to look for the content amongst all these moving things. Its like trying to stand in the middle of Picadilly Circus and read a book :-)
Sorry if it sounds like I'm picking at your site, really I'm not. I like your design overall. Nice choice of colours, and I love the animations you've done - esp the main header one. Just trying to pass on some tips I've picked up along the way :-)

Anyways... I was planing to exstend the page anyways and yes I'm gonna cut down on the flash a hell of alot...
I'm gonna make the iframe longer as for the forumness and other things... and instead of flash for the pages, I'm going to use starded html... this way its easyer to update... aswell as easy for serach engine spiders top pic up info...
Theres plently more sites I'm planing on making aswell... so on the side where the ad is for the sk8sim video 2005... this will be lowered and a new menu will be slaped in... with links to other intresing places... and other stuff like contact info ect ect
I'm also mabie gonna move the middle main bit (with the 3 pic links) down a bit so in the future some adds could slot in nicly (bring in a bit of money) and remove the background to something less animated... aswell as the chatroom and clock backgrounds... its pointless having it fade colors lol...
as i say... i worked on this site last year... it was just a huge craze as i started to learn flash action scripting... lol... but I've just fell inlove with the overule desgin of the site... gonna keep it... just incorparate alot more and easyer things into it...
i don't want to bulid a site that i will keep on having to go back to you know... i want a site thats gonna be able to run itself... and only have to be check up on it for forum monertring and posting news ect... or updating stuff...

ok... just to let you know I've been up all night and updated alot of stuff... toke alot of your advice... I've only changed the small and major things tho...

The pages that have had work done to them is the home... news and events page... altho this won't be the finished design as they still look a bit messy... its just to form a bit of a layout...
And i've lower alot of the anitmations... the bits that were coursing it to lag anyways... it may still feel a bit routh on the eyes for some... but ahwell... can't be helped... as with the extra page lenth it gives you more room to move about so it souldn't cource much bother anyways...
as for the music tho i couldn't be arsed to change it lol... i loaded the fla file up and look at the work and scripting and fort **** THAT!!! it was a huge mess lol!!!!
and besides I'm planing to change the whole music player anyways... lol so no point in changing it really...
One more thing... when i do release the new music player I'm gonna start out with only my tracks and others... so if any bedroom bashers here want me to post your work up on it... let us know
I wanna try and get it done... not fully... but enouth to release it lol...
Anyways... i'll keep you posted on the updates...gonna start to nail it once and for all... hopfully get a forum hosted aswell...

I am also thinking it is just very cluttered. Apart from that its smashing, the animations look cool etc. I just getting a bit lost looking around that's all. The Sk8SiM logo you could maybe design in illustrator to get a nicer looking image although it does look great anyway. Just to be more professional I would use that approach. Love the flash intro the music is cool although it sounded like galloping horses because I had something playing already hehe. Overall it looks very good but could be made better Keep it up!!!
