depends on your budget really, if u aint got much cash go for something like an opteron 144 / 146 or san deigo 3700

if u want something thats top notch go for an opteron 165 (dual core)

well it might just be your hard drive is broken so it won't boot up anything, try sticking another one in and see if that works if it is it'll only cost like £60 for a 80-100b one for laptop. unfortunately i don't know shit all about laptop hardware so can't advise you on anything there, sure someone can help, just shop about and you'll find one at a good price

AMD are ok when it comes to laptops - the turion is an excellent processor for battery life - though its 64 bit capable - which is pointless in a laptop, theres no way a laptop could even handle a 64bit OS, it runs crap as hell, so your paying for somthing you wouldnt even be able to use.

the core duo's from intel work really well - they have two execution cores so it basically halfs processing power - meaning less power is used, longer battery life - faster processing

i dont need battery life at all...

i like using laptops...but i have no qualms if my laptop weighs 10kgs or wotever...

or has the battery life of a monkey...

my last one was a desctop processor,and im gonna stick to it....

just like the being able to move it about easier!
