I'm on pay as you go........ I pay per MB up to a certain limit, and after that its price capped meaning I can keep on downloading, but not pay any more. Only on a 512k connection at the mo which is adequate, but I think they're all getting upgraded soon.
I don't think the BT roll out is happening all over the country just yet Chris, but I may be wrong..... I'm pretty sure that our exchange isn't 8MB enabled yet - at least it wasn't a month ago

seems theres some confusion about adsl..
theres adsl, wich goes to 8mbit down 0.5mbit up
most suppliers originall gave 512, then 1mb then 2mb..
then out came 8mb..
trouble is it depends how far from the exchange you live.
its not overheads that reduce ur bandwidth, its how far u live from ur exchange. (the physical length of the line from the exchange to your modem)
adsl MAX is just a marketing ploy, 8mb is the MAX for adsl technology.
then theres adsl2+
this supports 24mbit down and 1.5mbit up
adsl2+ OWNZ adsl (or MAX aswell)
but yet again its limited by how far u live from the exchange.
most ppl on adsl2+ will see about 10~16mbit some less some more.
those on NTL... well.. cable can pump through crap loads of bandwith, something like 1000mbit (maybe more/less i dunno) however, everyone on cable essential shares the same bandwith as everyone else one there street, or more accuratly there cable junction. wich usually covers a fair sized area.
though NTL are offering 10Mbit lines... NTL can actually supply u 10mbit.
whereas adsl/2+ have to offer UP TO 8mbit/24mbit
if anyone gets all of that lol.
