Anyone bored, scattered, needing something to do!!!!???
Feel like writing a bit of babble for me??

I am doing a presentation in two days for college....

"How partying and clubbing affect the youth of today"

I came onto this site to try and get a few personal opinions as to what partying means to you. What you love about it. Why you do it.

I have to talk about how the rave culture impacts on young people (12 - 25) their development, their social identity, their communication style and their sense of belonging.

Why people get involved in partying.

How it effects their life - work / school / money / social relationships etc. etc

Is there such a dress code these days, are there still the hardcore ravers in their glowing outfits?? Girls with their glitter & glow sticks?

Thank you Thank you Thank you to anyone who has the time to reply!

I 'party' because:

I love the music
I love getting ****ed up
I love the bonding that happens when you get ****ed up with your m8s
I love socialising with randomers
I love getting ****ed up with randomers
I love the bonding that happens when you get ****ed up with randomers

Why do I "party" so hard?
Because it's a way to escape - reality, whether or not you're own something. The whole enviornment, the music, the vibe is just a natural high in and of itself. Unlike clubs, the people tend to be more open minded, free - spirited, friendly and accepting. Everyone just looses their inhibitions and just lets go...stomping till like 4 in the morning. It's a good way to meet new people that you'd probably get along fairly well with and keep in touch because of the similar likes in music and raving. And of course there are still girls with their glitter and glow sticks! Though, these days (in NY) you have people from both ends, people that go all out in their rave gear and other people that wear clothes they normally do.

PLUR xx
Good Luck with everything!!

I got into partying as I liked the music... I was exposed to the music and taken to my first parties by my older brother. I learned to DJ and now me and my mates are setting up are own parties which were all enjoying very much :).

I wouldn't say partying effects my work or money situation at all... I spend less if I go out raving than I would up the pub with my mates (I don't tend to buy drinks at raves BTW!). I may be a little more tired on a Monday morning but I really don't think it effects my work.

Social relationships... I've made some friends ;). When I first started going to parties (would of been free raves only at the time not legal parties... too young to get in ;)) I'd say I stopped judging people on first appearances so much due to some of the people I met.

I think I dressed up once to go to a rave but usually I just go in whatever I put on that morning. Some people dress up some people don't it's all good really, anything goes.

I just re read my message I posted, I sound like I'm sitting on something very uncomfortable!!! ha!

I have been out of the scene for years now, having retired to the tame once in a while all nighters at home and am so out of touch with what used to be my real world!!!

I left london about 10 years ago and Australia sometimes seems soooo far behind!

Thanks for your replies, muchly appreciated my friends!!

Hi, I'm writing from Holland... And is this about hhc UK scene or just hardcore raves in general?

If it is general this is why I party

When I started out it was because of the gabber-society. They were one big happy friendly family, and I just wanted to belong to something massive. So I started going to raves. Meeting people, kick off the bordom, and just be one of the mass. There's nothing better then being in an area full of energy...

Today I just go to raves because I'm bored. The Gabber scene has collapsed and I feel it's my obligation to go, to stay supportive of the scene... After all I used to be one of the "Old True Core" Gabber is a part of my identity. not that I life and breathe hardcore, but it's the old code that I honer...

But still, in the old skool area's the energy flows, the older crowd is still friendly... So maybe I go aswell to feel nostalgic

There is in holland such a thing as a dresscode among the old ravers. Guys in eighter cavello or Australian "Ausie" jogsuit, or they are in 501 jeans with rolled up trouserbands (Don't know the english word for it) t-shirt Nike air max. Heads usually in spikes or bald. Girls were same jogsuits, but underneath a sportstop from Nike or Adidas. Can also were 501 jeans, sporttop, Nike air max. Hear is shaved up and always in a ponytail.

Thing with glitter and "glamour" is just not done...

wel I am a bit old to answer but I started raving at the age of 17 so I guess I will tell you what I think about it all....

ah hem

I first got into the scene in 92 by just listening to tape packs, I then went to my first rave in 96 between the years that I listened to the music and actually went I never felt like I had a sense of belonging, but being a raver made me feel like I had a meaning and an escape from reality. Me and my friends were like one big family and were always with each other... yes we did argue ocasionally but who doesn't?
I wasn't working when I started going but as my life progressed and I did start work it didn't affect my work it just made me look forward to the weekends alot more!
As for communication, well its alot easier to tell someone that they have pi**ed you off during the week, when you are off your head than on a monday morning, its like you could say anything and get it all sorted out and know that you would just end up hugging !!
as for money well I managed to pay rent for my own flat, my boyfriend at the time worked and he had a car so we were going along ok, yes we did spend the rest if our money on records, parties of our own which meant hiring lights and a generator etc and of course big events themselves, but we didn't want anything else.
To me the dress code is the same now as it was back then.....anything goes, one thing I love is being able to turn to whoever is next to you and getting a smile from them (which you won't get in a towny nightclub) and even being able to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger... something a shy person like me would never normally do, . no attitude just love and happiness

One last thing I would like to say is that I got pregnant and had to stop it all whilst still watching my friends enjoy it all, it was like being behind a sheet of glass and kind of being shut out.... they wanted me to join in the fun and have a laugh with them still but it was a really hard thing for me to do... I gave it all up for my 2 kids...... until now, my boy is 6 and little girl is 2, I now feel ok to say, I need some time out and feel that I can go and enjoy myself again without it affecting them. this is really important for me and as long as my kids are happy then I can go and get some well deserved me time.

I will always love happy hardcore and mixing and dancing and getting wasted, they were the best times of my life xx

I party on the weekends because im too busy during the week to party.

I play sports every other day (hockey, baseball) along with my 9-5pm Monday-Friday job.

So that basically covers...

*seeing my freinds
*wanting to escape the work week
*wanting an excuse to dance/drink.
