Haha im actually up at this time, and I dont work. Basically I'm a student and my body clock is a bit messed up (I feel tired at 4, and wake up at 3 in afternoon), so I decided just to stay up all night
Anyway I'm going home today, in a few hours so I might sneak in an early pint of Guiness if I can find a bar thats open before 12. By the way I don't care that I'm not Irish as we English celebrate Paddys day more than St Georges day (English equivalent, to our non-english friends who may not know)

What kind of day is it and what's the story behind it?

He is the patron saint of Ireland, I think he was born in England and then sold in Ireland as a slave. Then a few years later he became religious and was a Christain missonary in Ireland, and ended up having the biggest impact out of all the missionaries so he has become the patron saint. He apparently died on this date so therefore St Patricks Day is celebrated on the 17th March.
For the reason why everyone gets drunk is the fact that the Irish are well known for their drinking

my dad gets absolutely pissed to fuk on st.pats day, he likes to think of himself as full irish due to my grandad being irish and my nan having irish parents, i continually inform him however of his birth certificate!
