I've just picked my student card up as i start a part time college course on Thursday, but i dont know what benefits i actually get out of it so if anyone could kindly list them in here i would br very gratefull.

I'm pretty sure you get a free cheeseburger when you buy an extra value meal in McDonalds.
I think there's some sort of discount in HMV too...

^^^Bone, you're correct about the free cheeseburger - the offer also extends to a free mcflurry!
Other discounts are in HMV, Virgin, loads of clothes shops.....basically just ask when you buy, a lot of places will give you 10% off.

Round my area u get on the bus and train cheaper if u have a student card, plus u get a special student rate at the Cinema!

maybe college/university serving buses, but trains?
I had to apply and pay for a student railcard in 1st year, which has to be renewed every year. It isn't even worthwhile unless you use the train more than twice a week.

Ur right about the train tho, i knew there was a way of getting it cheaper by being a student!

i beleive there is a way your college can organise cheaper train travel. Just ask, you wont know unless you look into it.
I dont need an NUS card anyway, i use my best mate when we go shopping and other than that i get staff discount (25%) off in dorothy perkins top shop miss selfridge burtons evans wallace BHS woot

in AUS too, students get like OVER 50% off transport prices its great esp. if ya dont drive and uni is HEAPS far away
