round here are absolute cocks! We had arranged to do a small party in a near by village hall for my friends birthday, yesterday we received a phone call from the owner saying that she is going to have to cancel as the police have heard about it and know we are going to be playing Happy Hardcore... Apparently Hardcore parties are bad news...?
We have done many parties in the local area and have had little trouble; far worse goes on in the local pub than what has ever happened at our parties! TBH I'm pretty damn sure if you played a hardcore track to our local police they wouldn't know what it is nor would they be able to tell the difference between it and any other type of dance music.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? What the fook gives them the right to do this! What grounds do they have for doing it! I'm f**king pissed with it all there must be something I can do about it?

Hardcore music = Drugs
That's pretty much how the police see it I reckon. Before I got into hardcore I thought all ravers were pill heads so maybe thats the assumption they take

I agree wiv Bid, Old Bill's very narrow minded, one ov the requirements in the job description meh thinks!
But some ****stables will reason with you if you put forth a sound case, you could try this, or jst **** 'em off and break in2 a lbarn somwhere discreet and rave on.
And if they do turn up....... JUMP 'EM!!!

That's great news, all hardcore parties should be shut down.

....? Is the owner of the Village Hall telling you the truth or just using the 'Police' story as an excuse?
Maybe some 'well meaning' acquaintance/busybody has mentioned Rave/Noise/Drugs ....Trouble?

maybe where you live thats the case but believe me cops arent pussies like that everywhere, in some areas i've lived i'd say they were the biggest gangsters going and would take on a lot more than your standard wannabe badboy.
A corrupt coppers a very dangerous thing because they have almost unquestioned power, some people may try go head to head with them but in what i've seen you'll just lose.
Sorry to hear that bulby i've been looking forward to coming over to one of your events, have to say i agree with ionosphere though i doubt the police would be bothered unless there'd be under 18's there.
Round this area i dont think hardcores really got that bad a name, it certaintly aint garage so it surprises me that they'd care so much.

Evel could be right if he is talking about Dorset police.
We had a party in a Bournemouth hotel (closed for the winter) in January and the police knocked on and asked us to turn the music down which I we did a bit and after that they just patrolled the area in a panda car watching the people coming out to try and catch a drink/drug driver. Followed us for a while but didn't pull us over. It would of been alright cos our driver was straight anyway.

Yeah you could be right about it being some busybody, I guess I hadn't thought of that. If it was the police though I would have thought it would class as discrimination yeah. We do have another venue sorted now though so it may be a bit late but at least we got something sorted.
We have decided to do a couple of charity parties in future to help boost our image in the community, should help us out in future...
